why is it that the detractors have no critical skill to explain how this track is bad

I know the reason why they think it's '''''''''bad''''''''''' but you teenagers are so fucking bad at expressing your opinions
>>

>not to mention awful rhymes such as "I'm so high/I think I might die" like fucking really??

if this is the absolute by far worst song on the new album, then maybe there is hope. like, maybe this is the Tonight (from CLPPNG) of the new album.

I certainly don't hate it.

But I certainly don't love it.

It feels too long, and the idea of a potential album full of feature artists sounds real fucking wrong to me on an Avalanches album. This album needs to change dance music like the first album grew to be in 2000.

This just feels kind of a misstep.
>>
>>65353912
Point 1, 3, 4, is your opinion and I can't touch that, but point 2 is fucking stupid.

You say that the Avalanches changed style and that's a bad thing. It isn't. Changing styles is a natural thing for a band to do. Also, it is sampling only what the Avalanches are doing, it's just also featuring artists. Also El Producto, and don't make that "Pls read" shit, you said that it goes against their whole style, which you for some reason just define as SILY. Get over yourself.
>>

There are a few camps right now

People who like DOOM and Brown and are feeling it
SILY fans who don't like rap and are butt mad
SILY purists who would hate any deviation from sample only electronic
People hating for the sake of hating
>>
for something so bombastic is just sounds flat
maybe it's just the video version causing that but i'm skeptical
>>
are they drinking mountain dew
>>
>>65354404

I like DOOM and Brown but they don't belong on an Avalanches track.
>>
Great to see music with class is returning.
>>
My only real issue is the whole electroswing sound to it. Otherwise I enjoy the hip hop beat, some scratching, clear use of samples and the features, I'm just not completely sure if DOOM is a sample or an actual feature. Definitely not going to be my favourite from them but it's okay as it is, also the comeback teaser had a great track playing on it which also played on that phone call teaser, so I'm satisfied still.

I enjoyed it, not as good as any track on SILY but I havent heard DB or DOOM in a while so its pretty refreshing to hear all three on a track. Fun rap song, but nowhere near the elegance of their previous work

So do you actually not like it, or is that just the memes talking?

I swear, if electroswing wasn't such a meme, people would appreciate this song a lot more. Personally, I don't like it, but not just because of "muh electroswing"

"I did one song with them a while ago and it was cool," Brown told Triple J. "They felt like it was OK and I felt like it was OK. But then we actually got in the studio and made a record and I swear the record we made is incredible. 'Frank Sinatra' was the first one we did. That was cool but the one we did after that... I swear, if we put that out, it'll change the world. I heard it that first night and that was the only time I heard it. I wanna hear it again!"

sense of exploration, the melancholic undertone throughout the whole album, the "concept", the sample work, how fun the entire thing is (to most people), catchiness, mix of hip-hop, disco, trip-hop, dance-pop and rock, the fact that they were a band in the early 2000s that had (conceptually) instrumental songs in the charts and were a lot of young people's exposure to music outside the realm of rock, hip-hop, disco or whatever genre they grew up with, and you have an album perfect for being praised by the people who grew up listening to it.

>>65351707
No matter how great the album would turn out to be, I don't see myself not skipping this song every time.

I didn't have any high expectations, but this is just grating and embarassing.
>>
>>65356111
Well it's the last song on the album and a bonus track so I think most people would skip it unless they want to listen specifically to it.
>>
>>65356128
Wait its a bonus track? Why would they release the bonus track instead of one of the actual tracks?
>>
>>65356128
>Well it's the last song on the album
That's actually not so bad then.
>>
>>65356148
Don't know

>>65356151
Yeah, it doesn't say it on the music video but I'm pretty sure what they released is the extended mix, which is the last song on the album and a bonus track.
>>
>>65356128
>its the last song and a bonus track
That makes so much sense. Still weird why they'd release the bonus track as a single.
>>
>>65355423

Who doesn't know this? Who are you talking to?

Raps have featured on the Avalanches before, yes. That doesn't make this good.. ?
>>
This song literally sounds like a Gorillaz b-side from 2001.

What the fuck were they thinking?
>>
>>65356128
Wrong. Only the extended version is a bonus track, the actual song is #3
>>
>Maybe you forget about the unprecedented sixteen-year gap between albums and all the revolutions the world has made during that time. Forget about Since I Left You perfectly capturing the hazy millennial zeitgeist and how the band’s rare live shows invariably ended in total chaos or broken limbs.
>Constructed from woozy harmonics, infectious rhythm tracks and the dangled clauses of archival field recordings, Wildflower feels almost narcotic when followed from start to end (this is categorically not a record to play on shuffle). On repeated listens, the record gradually reveals a whole new world of hobo folklore, comedic pioneers and traveller musicians.
>Wildflower – the album – is nothing less than a journey into a kaleidoscopic secret world of sound; a wormhole that leads to a place most of us didn’t even realize existed. It’s a timeless, untouchable, gloriously affectionate celebration of those musical mavericks who never gave a damn what anyone else thought.
>>
>>65356212

It's essentially a radio edit. It's commonplace. Acts with no integrity do it.
>>
Absolute garbage. 10,000 tacky polka-ish beats have been made like this since SILY, this one is more annoying than any of them though
>>
Maybe Frankie Sinatra the track will be different from this one.
>>
>>65356239
And what they released is the extended version I think.

>>65356248
>radio edit is longer than the normal song
That's not how it works, anon.
>>
>>65353904
this.

Everyone forcing themselves to like this dogshit track are fools.
>>
It's a bad track. The sample gets annoying fast, Danny Brown has a terrible verse and MF DOOM sounds like he recorded this shit on his phone in a broom closet and then sent the audio via text.

You can't defend Danny Brown's verse.

You can't defend MF DOOM's terrible sounding verse that sounds like shit and could've been recorded 10 years ago.

If you can't defend either of those 2 things, why are you saying it's good? Is it just the hype? C'mon.
>>
>>65356266
>That's not how it works, anon.

Yeah, it can be. If they add a hook or restructure it to have a more traditional flow. A radio edit doesn't HAVE to be an editing down. You get altered versions of songs designed for radio all the time that can be the same length
>>
>>65356280
>>65356274
>>65356255
>>65356234
>>65356111

Agreed
>>
>>65356247
wat dis?
>>
>>65356239
I'm pretty sure this is the extended. Spotify has it labeled extended and the time length is about the same as the video
>>
Ah fuck, Wildflower is going to be another one of those albums that shitposters and false-flaggers talk about all day, one half pretending it's the best and the other half pretending they hate it and no one actually voices their own opinion on it.

I mean, this happens with most albums already, but controversial ones like this are going to be insufferable to read about on /mu/.

If this neo-electro swing shit had been released by anyone other than babby's first plundaphonics hype collective, it would've been relegated to cringe and electro swing threads
>>
Reminder you all pretended to like Get Lucky and RAM when both were generic pop albums you'd never have paid attention to if they had Robin Thicke's name on it.
>>
>>65351707
two hearts in 3/4 time is the best avalanches song
>>
>>65356339
I liked Get Lucky
>>
>>65356342
*worst
>>
>>65356266
>>65356311
Therefore, this mediocre single is featured in the new album, just in a shorter form.
>>
>>65356345

And I bet you hated Blurred Lines, even though it's the same shit but better.
>>
>>65356335
Silly shitposter.
What are you talking about, most people ITT are not happy with it. Why are you pretending like the majority supports it?
>>
>>65356378
Eh didn't mine it. I was indifferent

half and half like it/dislike itt
avalanches apologists are going I-ITS JUST ONE SONG OMGZ I EVEN KINDA LIKE IT OK??
>>
This single would be the worst news of the day if Phil Elverum's wife didn't have cancer.
>>
>>65356397
>track listing
>they're actually putting Frankie Sinatra in it.
Fuck man....
>>

you care because?

Reminds me of when MGMT released the Your life is a lie single. In the end it was the worst song on the album but the album sucked anyways.
>>
>>65356462
Because Phil Elverum is my favorite musician and I don't want him to feel bad about his wife dying.
>>
It's a caricature of their past glory. It's like they tried to please past fans but don't realise fully why people liked SILY / past EP's. And they obviously also wanted a hit. So, we have this whacky, grating mess trying to please everyone.
>>
>>65356445
At least it'll be shorter.
>>
>>65351707
This sounds like The Lonely Island
>>
>>65356213
multiple people in this thread are like "there's never been nigger raps in avalanches before" when there has clearly been raps sampled throughout including full verses. as I said, people are going full retard
>>
I liked it
>>
>>65356234

you write that like it's a bad thing
>>
>>65355150
White bois first sample album
>>
>>65356320
Mu really needs to die because of this
>>
>>65351707
I thought that was all right. But then again, I never though Since I Left You was as good as people said it was.
>>
>>65356507
Great music comes out of pain anon
>>
>>65354956
>SILY is good because it uses its samples sparingly

I know what you meant, but this is still one of the most retarded things I've ever read.
>>
>>65351707
If it was Danny that released this you guys would be shitting yourselves. But just because it's not the same as what we got on Since I Left You, you're all crying about it.

I don't care for it all that much, though.
>>
>>65354956

there was literally a full rap verse on SILY retard
>>
I hate rap.
That sums up all my thoughts on the new song.
>>
Dannys vocals are way to quite and dooms get louder halfway through. Its poorly mixed.

This track's lit. Definitely the "Frontier Psychiatrist" of the album. Most likely the train-hopping "travelling musician" bit that was mentioned in the album description on their site. Also supported by the fact that Subways is the next track on Wildflower.
>>
>>65358142
Show us a song you've mixed, friend.
>>
>>65356339
>you all pretended to like Get Lucky and RAM
No I didn't. I was just as vocal in my hatred as I am now.
>>
>tfw their next album will be released in 2032 at this rate
>>
It's something.

Initially kind of disappointed, really tried to like it.

but it could also be the worst song on the album, and given the other tease(s) I've heard, that's a possibility
>>
>>65351707
Obviously not as great as anything on Since I Left You, but I really dig the strong Kusturica vibe on this, the quotation from Coltrane was sweet too
>>
>>65358348
Worst poster in the thread right here.
>>
>>65358376
And if the trend continues it will be the worst, most ungodly piece of music ever conceived.
>>
Just give it time.
>>
Reminds me of El Producto and their Soca!Brains! live mixes. It's not that bad.

Nice to see all of these non-fans complain and instinctively call it mega shit.
>>
>>65358501
Also I just went through the youtube comments and the top comment pretty much said the same thing I did kek
>>
>>65358501
>non-fans
Do you honestly think people would be so upset if they weren't fans?
>>
>>65358557
B-but if you're a fan you like everything they release, even a dogshit like this track!
>>
>>65358557
Tripfag getting mad at a fact, nothing new to see here. You're giving /mu/ too much credit in regards to its passive opinions.
>>
>>65358598
I have an active opinion that you're an idiot.
>>
>>65353833
just because you didn't get a "good feeling" from it doesn't mean it universally and objectively sucks. I can't get into pink floyd, doesn't mean they suck just because I don't like it. Stop being a fucking child.
>>
>>65358320

>Definitely the "Frontier Psychiatrist" of the album

that's a tremendous insult to Frontier Psychiatrist
>>
Meh
I guess it's just the most accessible and radio-friendly track on the album to promote it
Subways sounds promising as fuck
>>
>>65355296
>at least the frontier psychiatrist video made sense

holy shit /mu/
>>
>>65358642
ie. you have no life and make posts nobody cares about
>>
>>65355296
>at least frontier psychiatrist made sense

What?
>>
>>65358699
It's defnitely the "Frontier Psychiatrist" of the album
It's the goofy single that doesn't sound like the rest of the album that gets mixed reactions.
>>
>>65354611
the fact that you think calypso and NORB are similar enough to be separated by a simple forward slash indicates that you have literally no idea what you're talking about. i can guarantee that you have never heard a Calypso album in full, or else you wouldn't hear the word Calypso in the vocal sample and decide that's what the genre was. what, do you think Maroon 5 is blues rock because they made Moves Like Jagger?

i wouldn't be surprised, though, since you fucking people still, STILL think Avalanches count as plunderphonics
>>
>>65358800
See the name, buddy? You're talking to a founder of the Weebteam, which Chris Ott follows on Twitter.
>>
>>65358699
Frontier Psychiatrist was the most overrated, and among the weakest tracks on SILY. Also if you can't feel the similarity between the vibes of FP and FS, you guys probably lack the ability to listen to music attentively.
