It's not even really shoegaze. It's more like noise-pop with black metal trappings. Basically it's shit because the songwriting is terrible and has a ton of overused emotional cliches you see in crappy 3rd tier post-rock, generally boring riffs and mediocre vocals. The album you're describing is Alcest's Souvenier d'un autre monde, which is a genuinely good shoegaze album, just not metal at all beyond tremelo picked riffs

The best thing to do is try fostering discussion amongst the shitposting, yes any forms of serious discussion will be met with shitposting but so long as you don't give those shitposters the (you)'s they're looking for they'll go away.
