I'm looking for a bassist or an album with lots of emphasis on double bass soloing. I really like how Anthony Braxton did albums with sax as the only instruments and no other instrumentation. Is there a bass equivalent?
Not jazz, but Fernando Grillo - Fluvine is a free improvisation album with bass only, maybe you'll like it
Motoharu Yoshizawa is pretty good for this sort of stuff.

??
listen to Kent Carter - Beauvais Cathedral
you will cry and love me
Dave Holland- Emerald Tears
and also
he has a duet album with Barre Philips called Music for Two Basses
Isn't free jazz with a solo instrument just a dude playing random scales?

NHOP is an acronym for a double bass player, Niels something something.
I don't know if he played free jazz though, he has collabs with Joe Pass and Oscar Peterson and that's all I know about him.

Check out Barry Guy.
Didn't Mingus had an album entirely dedicated to that?
