Schizo myself, only done shrooms a few times, never really "tripped out" but I felt a positive effect on my perception - what's the link to shamanism?

how do you get tested for mental illnesses? im pretty sure i have autism or aspergers. maybe even schizophrenia too. often when speaking i lose track of what im saying and people find me very difficult to understand or follow. sometimes i cant even remember how to speak when someone adresses me and cant say anything at all. i also often hear sounds in other rooms which i tihnk are people talking and enter and no ones there.

Formal diagnoses are among the foremost cancers of our present society, especially diagnoses towards youth and young adults.

It's as though the mental health and psychology realms, ironically, have no grasp on this generation's belief that they're in any sense unique, and unaware of how such a diagnosis may affect said belief. For brevity's sake, I'll refer to this belief, this condition, as "snowflakitis," as in "special snowflake-itis."

These diagnoses largely serve to validate our youths' snowflakitis, which then serves to excuse them of previous failures and present grievances. They absolve themselves of all responsibility for their actions' consequences and simultaneously wield their snowflakitis while having accomplished nothing that would warrant such a title.

Consider this with the fact that women are the overwhelming recipients of formal diagnoses, the same women whose snowflakitis is already well-documented through phenomenon like "I'm not like all the other girls" and such, and it's a compound of cancer.

Further, the surfacing of such a cultural phenomena exacerbates what is already a criminal injustice towards modern men, whose afflictions and sufferings wither in the winds unheeded.

Suppose we've a conventional family, by which I mean a mother and father, and son and daughter. The son approaches his parents, to tell them about his internal struggles, and they tell him to deal with it. He tells them he's depressed, and his parents tell him to make friends. Now, the daughter approaches her parents and tells them that she's feeling depressed, and she's showered in sympathies. With haste they schedule an appointment with the family doctor and promise they'll get her help.

The whole of culture and society has served to debase and devalue the weight of formal diagnoses.

According to you, blacks that grow up in the ghetto, go to college, and grow to be financial successes shouldn't be able to criticize blacks that grow up in the ghetto and die in the ghetto, forever blaming their behavior and problems on circumstance and society, and they shouldn't be able to criticize them because they're black too.

Don't reply to me again unless you've got something to say. Convenient as it is for you to obscure the fact that you're on the losing end of this discourse by repeating yourself, I recognize it for the bullshit it is.

DO NOT reply to me again unless you've got something to say, AN ACTUAL argument.

It's not a non-sequitur. I'm literally doing the same thing you're doing, which is repeating myself while contributing nothing novel to the discourse, because I'm not going to slave away typing essays while you simply Type three letters and link me to a previous post, as though that's an adequate defense when said previous post is what I'm refuting.

>Your argument is largely based on the anectodal idea that mental illness is looked down upon way more for men than women, which I believe is a vague-ass statement.
False. That's not the entirety of my argument, and it's far from anecdotal.

It's already recognized that interactions with strangers and our perceptions of them are already informed by level of physical attraction. Via the halo/horn effect, if an "ugly" and an "attractive" person said the same thing in the same manner to the same person, a stranger to both, the responses would vary wildly as physical attraction informs our interactions and perceptions. The "ugly" person may be perceived as a "creep," while the "attractive" person may be perceived as a "bad boy," while both did the same thing, to the same person.

The original notion is a simple expansion of this, while accounting for the fact that men are generally given less sympathy than women. A lone man is perceived with contempt, while a long women is perceived with sympathy. This is consequence of the "herd" mentality that also informs our interactions and perceptions; the individual presents a threat to the collective herd, because the herd does not understand the individual, and therefore cannot predict or control them. Dressed in neutral clothes, attending a Friday night flick by himself, the herd loathes the lone man. Said man may be incredibly nice, and compassionate, or he may be a wild sociopath, but whatever the case, it is assure that he is who and what he is through his own volition and that societal strings are of no consequence, no weight on his whims, and he is ever-loathed by the herd. The woman only escapes this contempt because the man's desire to fuck the woman is more potent, as is other woman's desire to add to their social circles.

It is through a compound of these phenomena that I arrived at such a conception. It is not vague, nor wild, nor unsubstantiated.

Deal with it.

>>65331991
The point of that post was that modern, formal diagnoses serve to excuse the previous and present failures of the diagnosed. With these diagnoses, modern youth and young adults cling to their ill-conceived special snowflake syndrome and use said diagnoses to excuse the lack of any outstanding accomplishment that one would otherwise expect from someone with such a lofty self-image and conceptions of being unique.

They can subtly peddle their bullshit about how special they are, and whenever asked to substantiate with an accordingly lofty accomplishment, excuse such a lack with their diagnosis.

Why does this matter? Why are you targeting this demographic rather than all mentally ill people of all ages?

I'm not reading or hearing anymore of this nonsense. You people are fucking cancer of a society. I just wanted people to discuss and express music because it personally makes me feel like I'm not alone in a passive area. But you guys just fucking shout incomprehensible words. I don't want people to sympathise or spoon feed me because I learned not to trust everyone anymore. I just want people to express the true art form that is music to make people feel better. Fuck off you cunts.
>>
>>65332292

easy.
i don't think i'm more important than my fellow man
>>
>>65332354
>But you guys just fucking shout incomprehensible words.
Is "you need therapy" incomprehensible to you?
>>
>>65332292
Listen here you cunt, you are a cancer among this diverse society. Everyone could discuss art and music in this community but you just treat people with disrespect. Get out of here
>>
>>65332250

i'm not trying to hurt you, bro.
my brother went through it. and i come from a familly were this disorder is latent.

just watch it. this guy is legit.
>>
>>65332393
Listen I already dealt with that, but I just want to talk about music. Not for me, but it's a coping process for many people with problems
>>
>>65332440
Okay, I will watch it later and I appreciate your words.
>>
>>65332447
>Listen I already dealt with that
Tell me about your therapy sessions.

I will reward you with music recs
>>
>>65332342
Because that demographic wields a sense of self-entitlement that is entirely unprecedented and is precisely why they need to excuse their lack of accomplishment. These are people that grew up being told ad nauseum that they were unique, and that they'd grow up to accomplish things untold, yet these same people are finding themselves living with their parents and tens of thousands of dollars in debt into their mid-twenties. These people were told they'd grow up to touch the stars, but they won't even have better lives than their parents, and rampant diagnoses are their excuses.
>>
>>65332506
Absolutely not because I try to get rid of those experiences. I don't trust you because I know that this will haunt me in the future.

maximum cringe
>>
>>65332588
Because you just spread visceral negativity and argue with random people you don't have direct with contact with, especially among a community trying to discuss art forms like music. If you are going to argue why not argue about music because it's topical in a place that actually discusses music. Many people including myself come here for escapism and to learn about new music. It's worthless to shout at people about random things on a music discussion platform. If you do that, do it somewhere else because you are like a cancer that spreads tangible negativity to people's lives. What is the point?
>>
>>65332646
Okay, you are probably going to recommend fucking octopus testicle music. But only from you and unty, because you cancerfied this thread
>>
>>65332721

Convincing my opponent that I am right and he is wrong, something that is very important to me.

But what is the point on a musical discussion platform, if you are going to do that, might as well do it on a debate website or perhaps a place that is topical to the topic that you argue about. The fact that you consider the other person an opponent without understanding his background or his true tangible personality shows you aren't a wisely fighter. It's just nonsense and it shouldn't be on a music discussion website. Instead of right, you are a left direction you labia eating wretch.
>>
>>65332848
You two ruined it, it was going fine until you and cunty started arguing about something meaningless in comparison to a musical discussion board. You two ruined it.

In my early youth I'd often see people like you, people that took pride in telling another person that his contributions to the discourse were so offensive they'd rather remove them entirely instead of say how he was wrong. You're so intellectual juvenile. It's sad.

>>65332908
Tailored towards the subject or not, this thread would have died without my contributions. It was on page ten when I first entered, which is why I posted >>65328762.

Because of me, more people contributed to this thread and posted music, so my contributions rendered this thread more beneficial for the OP, regardless of whether or not he recognizes it as such.

I consider the other person an opponent because they are literally opposed to my position. I don't mean that I hate them personally. Their background or personality is entirely irrelevant.

Finally, notice that even when people have tried helping the OP, he's responded with malice and suspension. This thread was very well doomed from its conception. The OP did not want discussion. The OP perhaps did not even want recommendations.

Don't use it as a snowflake syndrome. Brother is bipolar II and even he says its hella cringey when mentally ill people think they're automatically more susceptible to weird shit than others.

Either way, good luck. Hope you don't end up giving in to the voices in 20-30 years. Keep in mind the meds make you feel like a zombie, that's true, but they keep the voices away ajd you have to stave them off as much as possible.
>>
>>65333083
Nothing is fucking real, everything is created by my mind. When I'm dead, reality is dead, music is dead, the earth is dead, every person is dead, the universe is dead. Nobody is real and it's all just my imagination and metaphysical juxtaposition
>>
>>65333145
*malice and suspicion
Oops.

>>65333145
Might as well kill what is thriving with cancer and tangible negativity. It is like you have cancer, and people come to visit and express things. I appreciate those people but I still have cancer. It is like this thread. Cancer is just random and is a terrible act of reality. I never wanted this, I just wanted people to talk about music until the cancer spawned out of nowhere provoking terrible things to happen. Starting with here >>65329055

It doesn't matter that you kept this thread alive, it is like a doctor keeping you alive with cancer medication and treatment yet you still have cancer. It was fine until you showed up. I love all of the recommendations I have because it makes me feel apart of a community.
>>
>>65333287
Why would I want people to spread negativity? You are acting like it is my fault when I created this thread and went to sleep, then to read it tomorrow to see what people would recommend musically. Those people are lovely. But I never wanted your comments, it doesn't make sense for me to want people to spread negativity.

Jesus that's tough man, also really weird cause I literally just watched A Beautiful Mind last night and I've known that image for a while and I've always thought it would make a perfect album cover.

Anyway I think Age of Adz is an obvious choice, it's all about mental illness and is heavily influenced by schizophrenic artist Royal Robertson, anyway check at this song:

Also these:
Radiohead

Menomena

Kendrick Lamar

Portishead

Hope you hang in there bro, just try and spend enough time with people you love, and go outside as much you can, try not to be alone too much. And I say fuck the pills imo, they're bullshit

I once used acid, and got crazy and paranoid as fuck. Started believing that EVERYONE was planning to murder me. Even my family.
The police had to enter my home to take me with force to an ambulance, where I was tied to a bed and led to the hospital to get some shit injected in me. I was kinda like this:

Anyway, my imagination was always very fertile. But this is also a gift to us! Some notable geniouses used to have mental illness, like John Nash and pic related.
