How can I get that cool "metallic" sound on my bass?
I'm assuming it's a pedal? Anyone know of a pedal that gives that cool sort of "metallic" sound, as opposed to the regular vanilla soft bass noise?
give an example of a song or something op
Its probably just gain
Get an overdrive or even a fuzz pedal

how can you not know what I mean? Most rock songs have the slightly metallic sounding bass guitar. It sounds like a tiny bit of gain. When I play my bass, it just sounds like a regular old bass noise, nothing freaky about it (which is boring).

d'you mean playing slap bass

fresh strings are crucial for this
older than even just a month and you'll struggle to get that kind of sound

this for sure + play strongly and confidently
Flea just plays so hard, it starts to verdrive the pickups themselves, limpwristemonkeyfuck.
