Do you have tinnitus?
WHAT DID YOU SAY?
I went to a show recently. The fucking guitarist had their amp on the left turned up way too loud. It's been a day since the concert and the ringing in my left is still there.
I'm scared it won't go down a bit. I wasn't even the closest one to the amp, and I didn't see anyone else bothered by it. Help me /mu/
I have it from playing drums

if you ever encounter this again, go to the toilet and make makeshift earbuds from the toilet paper
And don't worry itll probably go over
>>65300014
Yes, 4 years of marching band will do that
>>65300202
Thank you anon
>>65300182
>tfw double jointed drummer
>twice as prone to get tinnitus and arthritis
Yes, but I grew up with it so it's cool.
>>65300394
Does it get worse with time?
Yes
>>65300420
I feel like the one on my right ear evolved from plain high pitched sound to something akin of a bell sound, and twice a month or so it suddenly increases in volume and lower in pitch for a moment, but other than that it's the same as ever.
>>65300014
I've got fluffy ears
it's horrible :O((
>>65300560
>>65300014
Yes. It became worse in the past few days and now I'm trying to only listen in low volume in hopes that it fixes itself. Been 2 days and no improvement.
Yes.
It's not too loud but it still bothers me and increases in volume now and then
>>65300014
Yeah. That's what you get when you stand right next to a crash cymbal in practice and your lead guitarist cranks it. I listened to music really loudly back in junior high and the beginning of high school. I eventually learned, but I had already done some damage. I still play my music loudly in the car sometimes, but I haven't driven since January. My roommate keeps the television on way too loud.
Keeping a low but existing level of ambient noise is the trick to masking tinnitus.
>>65300780
If you listen to music with headphones or earbuds, stop it completely until it gets better.
Because even if you don't turn up the volume very high, those devices are not good at all for your hearing if you spend more than 1-2 hours listening to music/day with it.
>>65300780
>>65300902
Yeah, give yourself a long break. If you listen to music, use speakers as much as you can for a few months at a low volume.
>>65300933
oh shit, thanks la's . i'll avoid them completely and listen to silent speakers only
>>65300371

When you listen to silence outside, it's almost like listening to field recordings.
Place the palms of your hands over your ears with fingers resting gently on the back of your head. Your middle fingers should point toward one another just above the base of your skull. Place your index fingers on top of you middle fingers and snap them (the index fingers) onto the skull making a loud, drumming noise. Repeat 40-50 times. Some people experience immediate relief with this method. Repeat several times a day for as long as necessary to reduce tinnitus.Dr. Jan Strydom, of A2Z of Health, Beauty and Fintess.org.
Nah.
I got them syringed the other day though and now they're both infected as fuck.
>>65301071
Yeah, of your tinnitus...
By the way, when I can't sleep due to the noise, I just focus really hard on it. This helps me not get angry and break shit and eventually I drift off without noticing
just drug addiction if it makes you feel any better i have to play musically incredibly loudly as i can so it makes me less aware of my surroundings so it might be on its way
>>65301166
If you rage and break shit at your tinnitus, you might have more than tinnitus to worry about.
What frequency is yours /mu/?
http://www.audionotch.com/app/tune/
Mine is 12460
>>65301220
I cry everytime I remember that it's permanent and I'll have to suffer it every day/night until I die
>>65301313
There are a number of people in the medical field doing research about audiology and psychoacoustics and such. Hopefully, we'll figure out how to reverse damage on the hair things in the cochlea one day.
>>65301251
mine is around 16500. also I think listening to this aggravated it or something
I was a noob back in the day and saw dinosaur jr without ear plugs.
Why do they gotta play so loud.
>>65301077
holy shit
it worked
>>65300014
I got mine from working at a airport.
>tfw you can never enjoy silence ever again.
>>65301440
>>65301077
I don't get how to do it...

nice, i think it placeboed me into silence for a few seconds
>>65300052
OOOOOOH WHATCHA SAYYYYYY
>>65301313
>>65301373
Besides, because you have tinnitus now doesn't mean you're going to keep it for the rest of your life
I know a few people for whom it disappeared naturally after some months or years.
>>65302925
Well, months have passed, now I'm hoping for years (plural)
>>65300014
Yes, but i barely notice it. Can only hear it i lay in bed not thinking about anything.
>>65300014
Yes
>>65301251
op here
16000
>>65301077
Can anyone provide picture on how to do this?
>>65301077
DO NOT DO THIS
It has been proven to worsen tinnitus
>>65301077
DO NOT DO THIS
It makes mustard gas. I nearly died.
sort of
it doesn't really bother me because it's quiet
>>65301458
My dad is an Air Force technician who worked around sonic jets for 20 years, and while it didn't give him tinnitus his hearing is absolute shit.
>>65300065
it'll probably go away in a week or two
>>65300014
>mfw
i really like concerts and live music, so i have it.
weed really helps, especially edibles
>>65303381
but people need to be functional.
i've bashed my head into a wall until my knee didn't hurt, but that didn't solve my problem or allow me to be functional
yup, and it's probably the reason why i love ambient music so damn much.
Yes, i was just studing with music and then it appeared, with 18 years, now with 20 I am used to it
>>65300014
Had it for about a month and a half, then it mysteriously went away. :)
Yes, since i was 9 years old.
I can't remember silence haha
>Had it all my life
>At night just assumed that the house just made those noises, and I couldn't hear it over normal shit during the day
>Eventully realise I have titanus
>Only audible at night, w/e
>Recently be quietly working away, music playing in the background
>Hearing whining noise
>Fucking shitty speakers are borked again
>Unplug them
>Realise that's my fucking tinitus
>ohfuck.png
It's hasn't gotten that loud since but I'm scared.
My hearings always been super shitty tho so maybe I'll be fine
Probably
