Hey guys, beginner to intermediate here - hoping to get some feedback on this little improv I did. Hoping to get into composition at UH for spring of next year. Wasn't originally interested in Piano and really only started playing seriously less than a year ago. I had to pick an instrument and I'm having to stick to piano now, which desu I love and appreciate a lot more after playing and de-constructing pieces.

want a real synth bad, this might be a silly question but can you get a synth for less than $100?
>>
>>65300407
if you want to compose you better stop improvising. can't give you feedback bc at work
>>
>>65300421
I guess not, unless you're lucky, at least not an analogue one
>>
>>65300421
>>65300426
I already write and have written pieces, thanks for the comment but I'm looking for feedback on my playing skills.
>>
>>65300446
upload score than I can rate it
>>
tfw you got a $6 vintage keyboard at goodwill. it sounds awesome, its still pcm, but it sounds awesome with all the old instruments from 80s/early 90s. lots of digital waveforms thrown through tremolo to get that spazzy retro sound. anyone else got any good finds?
>>
>>65300421
You could possibly score lucky second-hand but I don't think you'll find anything new.
Your best bet for your budget is probably to get a midi keyboard and use softsynths instead.
>>
>>65300503
i already have one, i love the sound pads it comes with. so much easier to create good sounds than with just a regular piano. although i do love my elec. piano voice.
>>
>>65300458
Know anywhere good to upload it? I can share some of the miniatures I've got
>>
>>65300563
dropbox maybe? i don't know desu
>>
>>65300563
you could also just post a pic of the score here
>>
this thread is a good idea and should be posted more often. It should get more attention though
>>
>>65300667
You'd think it would be more popular considering how popular an instrument like piano is. But it is harder to sustain conversation gear spamming unlike discussions on guitars.
>>
>>65300717
seems piano is too sophisticated for this kpop-infested board
>>
How long would you say will it take me to get back into playing after playing for 3 years as a little kid then stopping playing for >10 years? I only remember the major scales, and basically nothing else
>>
>>65301192
Hard to say, but at least you should learn faster this time around than last time :)
>>
>>65301582
thanks. I'm kind of hyped, even though I've always been terrible at music
>>
>>65300426
That's idiotic. All the greatest composers were accomplished improvisers. Practicing improvising is an invaluable tool for composers. Just like practicing composing is an invaluable tool for improvisers.
>>
Why are we on last page already?
>>
I got a Casio PX350 for $600 last week on Amazon.
Did I do alright?
>>
>>65300407
You have some some nice colors but your chords sound kind of blurty. Work on a tapered release (depending on the musical context)

Repeated left hand patterns could be smoother.
