Times you were given control of music in a car/at a party/social setting and what the results were in greentext format.

>it's the new year's eve of 2012
>everyone is drunk or high
>been playing music together with the host all night, mostly industrial, EBM and metal (I was into that at the time)
>host is so drunk that he is laying on the floor in his own puke
>I am also completely shitfaced, can hardly stand up straight
>realize the current playlist is about to end
>"hey you guys wanna hear an audio recording of a hippie tribe"
>host replies with "sure"
>manage to put on Cromagnon - Ritual Fest of the Libido after trying to type it for 2 minutes straight or so
>everyone slowly moves outside, except for the host and two guys on the couch who seemingly enjoy it

this story is related to parties but not aux cord and whateaver.

>at parties talk about music with (for the lack of better word musical normie) friends and brothers
>they say some bullshit
>they cant correct them everytime for many reasons
>1- I am little shy
>2-They will think "wow, he is just trying to show off saying bullshit he knows nothing about, I cant be wrong this many times"
>3-Its something I know they are wrong, but I dont know the correct version of what they said or dont remember it. Once some girl said pink floyd was the first experimental band and I told her that now, that even on 50s and 60s some musicians did something called musique concrete. She looked at me with a weird face and asked "tell me one artist", and somehow I could just remember just one name and said ianni xenakis.
>since I dont correct what they say this means I agree with the info they believe
>everytime I will say something I must check if what I will say will not contradict "what I now, believe to be true "
>end most of the time speechless, because I can think fast enough for an alternative opinion that fits or sometimes cant even think about something
>>
>try to introduce my sister and mom to the music I like
>play paranoid android

>resume it on the way back, the flow is ruined

One time I played Strictly Personal by Beefheart at some frat members' house after they told me to put on whatever it was I was listening to (since I was an autist and put on one headphone to listen to different music rather than the music that was playing).

Some bitch started talking about how much she hated it to me and wouldn't quit even after I told her I don't even blame her
>>
>>65253138
I just play normal music, aka rap music everyone loves that shit. White girls go crazy and almost everybody gets hype to Lord Pretty Flacko Jodye 2 to this day. The only songs I refuse to play are antidote and Work Remix. I aint tryna go that basic.

I once got so twisted that for a moment, I thought chiptune was good. I normally get high and drunk by myself so I play whatever I want, so for a brief moment in time I let my conscious slip and played Anamanaguchi for about 15 dudebros. After realizing my mistake I quickly grab my phone and play LUM which really didn't fit the mood but at least it bumped.

After I got home from that party I made a playlist specifically for parties, nothing too weird but nothing boring.

You are a genetic dead end
>>
>>65254031
What does that have to do with it ?
>>
My friends all know I don't usually listen to music that is suitable for parties and they're ok with that, so I'm never put in that awkward situation

Getting shitfaced is fun as fuck. It's what you do when you have friends and socialize. If you wanna live a boring life have fun, I won't stop you.

I've shown AnCo to plenty of friends before, and they all actually enjoyed it to my surprise. I would never play it in a big crowd where you don't know what to expect.
>>
>>65253714
I dont know where this meme comes from. Ive tried introducing so many normies to MPP and they all hated it.
>>
>>65254154
No, being a complete retard is not a lot of fun. I prefer to be able to think on at least a basic level when I'm conscious.
>>
>>65254193
the only context in which MPP is accessible is when compared to stuff like Danse Manatee
>>
>>65253714
>>65254159
>>65254193

It might depend on the song. Like, I wouldn't try to show someone Who Could Win A Rabbit or Alvin Row, but My Girls and Floridada might be more accessible.
>>
>>65254039
>"anon i listened to the bandcamp link you sent me for this night and it sounds shit"
>go to nightclub
>"actually this night is fucking awesome"

great success
>>
>>65254249
both My Girls and Floridada are impossible to dance to or play at parties
My Girls has a shit ton of time signature changes and Floridada is way too fast
>>
>>65254249
Normies hate the first minute of my girls and dont have the attention spans for all the transitions in the beginning of mpp songs
>>
>>65254224
I bet you have a lot of sex
>>
>>65254249
I've shown the entirety of MPP to one friend who hadn't listened to much experimental music beforehand and he actually enjoyed it.

Another is just some black dude I've always been cool with, showed him Rosie Oh, Taste, and Fireworks and he liked them all.

I would normally try to avoid showing anything before SJ unless I know they would actually like it.

Want to cure musical stupidity? Stop. Listen, share, appreciate. Let people be "dumb". Let yourself be dumb (you're not the smartest guy in the world no matter how much research you've done on music). Don't expect people to enjoy or appreciate the same sounds you do, that's just unrealistic and ridiculous.

Whether or not your friends' new musical experiences will be enjoyable (and how they will enjoy themselves) is up to various circumstances. My closest circle of friends tend not to enjoy music in the same way my closer relatives might. My friends see music as background noise or something to trip out to, whereas my relatives see it as something much greater and enriching. Music pulls my friends around (the mood of the song easily impacts their own mood), but my relatives make the music match their mood.

>Sister and her husband love all sorts of music: folk, bluegrass, jazz, rock, pop, r&b, country... not sure about metal or things like that
>Gave them a BOC vinyl which they enjoyed
>One day we're cooking and I decide to share Alt-J's An Awesome Wave, the timing seemed about right and they were in a good mood.
>They loved it
>Sister says "I like Alt-J" and I could tell they both really did
>But that feeling when you don't say a word in response because you don't know how to approach somebody else's expressions of appreciation and anything that comes out sounds forced because it's not an accurate expression of your thoughts.

Sharing music is an exercise in empathy and self-expression. There's no such thing as a "normie". "I like it, they should too because we're friendly" — won't work.

Well said m8.
>>
> Put on music depending on who I'm driving with and their individuals tastes

It really is not that hard to guess what music other people enjoy.

Not really a party/AUX cord scenario, but this green-haired weeaboo girl was showing me her taste in music for whatever reason (which happened to be lolsoedgy carnival goth hot topic-core) and we somehow got on the topic of guitar distortion, so I decided to show her some MBV. Based on the band name I think she assumed it was her type of music, her reaction to When You Sleep and I Only Said seemed to be mixed.
