Tame Impala are decent, the rest you mentioned are shit. The Drones are decent, other than that there aren't too many decent bands.

I think there is some fantastic stuff out there particularly in post-punk. But a lot of the triple-j-core gets old quick, and the people who listen to it like to pretend their taste is oh so underground.

There has been a pretty strong (but insular) hip hop scene in Australia since the early days of hip hop itself.
It's mostly white guys who do it but there are a few indigenous artists.

Quality Australian music exists in the underground. But regardless, it does exist. The bands you listed are pretty poor examples of what our country has to offer, though some of Tame Impala's alright. Sticky Fingers also have a couple great tracks. King Gizz is where its at though.
