IMO:
Teenage Fanclub - Grand Prix and Songs From Northern Britain. Bandwagonesque is good too but nowhere near as consistent as these 2.
Jellyfish - both albums and the offshoots too like Jason Falkner's and Robert Joseph Manning's solo albums
The Posies - Frosting On The Beater. Moody/ grungy power pop if that doesn't seem too oxymoronic. It works really well.
The New Pornographers - Twin Cinema
Third Eye Blind - s/t. Not meming, this album is really well-written. Bit of a lull in the middle but other than that it's great.
Obviously the first 2 Weezer albums.
Replacements - Let It Be. Tim and Pleased to Meet Me are good too but Let It Be is top 10 all time material.
Big Star discog ofc, and 70s Cheap Trick which you mentioned.
Those are my favs.

Gentile Giant and Magma are pretty great too.

I'm aware of those artists but I didn't know they're similar to Cardiacs. Magma has been a band I've wanted to listen to for a while.
