Hey /mu/, im looking to buy a cassette deck but I cant justify blowing several hundred on a unit that I only have a few cassettes for. Are there any good quality combination Cassette/CD decks past or present?

Get a good used deck, like a sony, yamaha, akai, pioneer, taskam, or a nakamichi(if you are lucky)

This akai measures extremely well
I have been searching for a cassette deck for a while too
Honest question: why cassettes at least vinyl sounds great on a decent setup.

not op but i suspect he's bought into the bandcamp tape label hype. good thing they'll be moving on to 64kbps rma files soon for that vintage digital compression artefacting.

Oh my god that's a joke right? Please tell me that's a joke

You can get this deck for cheap these days

But still, why? It's basically the worst sounding commercially successful analog medium (most tapes aren't on Dolby-s metal shit), and the artwork is tinier and shittier than on a CD. What's the advantage other than being a huge hipster?

Cassette is just as good as vinyl.
Metal tape with dolby s would fucking demolish vinyl in noise, dynamic range and distortion
such a shame that no one makes them anymore, but fuck vinyl. Just as shitty as a medium.

You may or may not have any affiliation with a local music scene, but come on anon literally everybody knows that cassettes are a thing because local bands don't have enough money to press vinyl. It's literally that simple

Dunno about you but around me we all make CDs. CD-Rs for the really poor guys. If people gave out cassettes no one would have any way to play the damn things

>there are now cassette hipsters who claim superiority to vinyl hipsters
I think >>65209833 is right
>>65210124
Cassettes have more of a market than CDs by a million miles
>>65210156
You're joking right? Outside of small circles cassettes aren't even the blip that vinyl is in comparison to CDs and digital.
>>65210174
No, I'm literally not joking at all. I literally don't know one local band who has put out a CD recently. It's all cassette.

>Claim
Theres proof, a good cassette will measure better than vinyl. And you dont have to spend hundreds on a good record player compared to a good cassette player

>I buy CDs
Stop this meme

Pre recorded cassettes are shit
