Finally, I will say that I visited Venezuela and Colombia about 10 years ago. Venezuela had a much better underground scene than the DR. Not sure what it's like now, because even back then there was a lot of political and social turmoil (and it's only gotten worse), but I saw it and was impressed. Same with Colombia.
I'm just saying it how I see it. I will support whatever scene there is, though. Like I said, points for effort.

Of course the scene of a country where you can save for 2 months to buy a decent mixing board will be better than the scene of a country where the majority of people live in poverty, and the ones that don't are pretty much eternally working to stay above poverty, there aren't proper bleep clubs, is historically and locally very far away from post-Berlin school mixed with post African repetitions music, etc etc etc
I'd say pound by pound their scene is better than here in Ontario for example. Literally filled with dudes mixing absolutely abysmally boring techn/mnml techno through Genelecs and Elektron gear. I've been to very good parties in the DR.

So I went to a top-40 chart club last night, reminded me of why I stick to bleep club.
Seeing four drunk welsh lads with taps aff in a dead club, singing their national anthem whilst Rhianna plays has given me PTSD.
