Need more black metal, preferably concept albums rather than just hailing satan. Metal threads today haven't had what I've been looking for, or maybe this band had just spoiled me.
Not even any symphonic or melodic metal? Doesn't NEED to be Black Metal, just something with sustenance.

Depressive BM up your alley?

I've only heard a few solo artists, but I'm down to try again. I'd suggest the band in the pic if out haven't heard them, I've been borderline obsessed.
Deathspell Omega's trilogy series of LPs are centered around particular concepts but approached from three different perspectives one in each LP.
Most albums by maudlin of the Well and that band's later incarnation Kayo Dot are all concept albums, too.
not a metal dude, but I can appreciate a good black metal record
>pic related is bathuska's Litourgiya
I don't listen to a ton of black metal, but over the years of casual listening, Akercocke and Marduk have probably struck me the most.
None of these recs are "hella underground" so you may already know about them.
Marduk is popular. I think their albums tend to be concept albums, although I've only listened to this one, which is about war.

Akercocke has some kinda "symphonic" elements. Their songs usually deal with sexuality through the hedonistic lens of satanism. They're a progressive band, but that doesn't stop them from being incredibly ugly when they want to, as this link should show. They have a strong death metal influence to the point that some would prefer to think of them as a death metal band with black metal influence.

They do have a softer, more Opeth-y side.

I'll mention Chthonic cause they're cool, but I haven't listened to a full album so I don't know about the consistency.
Taiwanese folk/BM dealing with Taiwanese history, nationalism, and mythology (from what I can tell).

Oh, Jute Gyte is cool too. Utilizes microtonality well. Another artist I haven't listened to enough.
