Its freakin everywhere in my country, so... underrared in here I guess. Some of his stuffs are great.
Talented songwriter for sure but a lot of his music seems like it'd be the soundtrack to some virtual japan simulation computer game. Not really my thing. I smoked weed and listened to YMO once though and it was fucking incredible, then I listened to it sober and couldn't get into it.
Love his solo stuff, I prefer the album 1996 to that one though

It's supposedly his last pop album he vowed before he went classical. It's quite nice, just not memorable to his 80s albums.
Rio is pretty amazing though. I want to find more of that hybrid of "latin-inspired ambient" sound.
