Today's the day.

Listen to your library, show off your backlog, babble about new music, tell us what you have been listening to today and what you will listen to in the following month, just let the good times flow.

"Reviews" Last.fm is Magic Edition

From best to worst:

>Fugazi - s/t EP
Only real worthwhile output from this band as far as I'm concerned. The most raw they ever were and it pays off. I still can't stand how much of a pussy-fart Guy Picciotto is on vocals sometimes tho.

>Tom Waits - The Heart of Saturday Night
Idk how this was rated lower than Closing Time cuz I liked this way more. Took more risks and payed off more. Last and first couple songs on the A side are stellar.

>Bluetile Lounge - Lowercase
Thought this would literally be lowercase. Wasn't that far off, though. The progression was subtle and satisfying, just the way I like it, though the last track was just alright.

>Gato Barbieri - Last Tango in Paris
Waaaay better than Fenix. The waltzes at the end were particularly satisfying. Still kinda eh tho.

>Basic Channel - BCD-2
Hated this first listen, but I actually really came to enjoy this and was pretty hypnotized by both of the "Phylyps Trak" songs.

>Tom Waits - Closing Time
I like this dude's early stuff, I just don't love it. Had a really somber overtone to it, I thought the lyricism was just slightly less witty than his next album.

>Spiritualized - Lazer Guided Melodies
Their most mediocre output I've heard so far. Very little continuity between the tracks that were different "parts" and just felt glued together.

>Spacemen 3 - The Perfect Prescription
I actually really enjoyed "Ecstasy Symphony" but that's about it. I liked the bonus tracks loads more than the actual original tracks but I guess I can't count those :/

this is poseur-general, of course people like brötzmann.
it's aggressive free jazz that has a very immediate, cathartic feel to it, so it's quite easy to appreciate for the average poseur.
>>
>>65157450
I just can't get over how I hear the name Brotzmann 5x to every 1 Wayne Shorter or Joe Henderson or Lee Morgan.
I guess it makes sense since people here are more drawn to avantgarde music than jazz itself... still weird for me though.
>>
>>65156908
Solid review.

>>65157399
Don't lie ;)

>>65157360
I think the people here that don't really like him are just indifferent and not aggressively against his music. which isn't that unusual since most people here appreciate musicians that take risks and experiment. Typical jazz fans with maybe less eclectic taste than dailiens tend to prefer stuff that doesn't tend to deviate so heavily from the norm.
>>
>>65157532
yeah, it's the same reason why people here are more into modern classical than classical

The Modern Lovers- The Modern Lovers
Like the stooges, but fun
the ballad tracks are incredibly charming
Jonathan's voice is 2qt
the organ is really a really nice touch
it's just great/5

Jonathan Richman- I, Jonathan
Jonathan just sounds so cool
but what the hell is he talking about
these weird rambling lyrics are great
the sister ray interpolation is possibly the greatest thing ever put in a song
I relate to his love for the VU
falls off a little in the second half

Radiohead- My Iron Lung EP
very angsty alt rock
but I really like this period of Radiohead (post PH eps and The Bends)
it appeals to my inner angsty self without getting to whiny emo
also the guitar lines here are of course killer
the first half is some of the bends style rock while in the second half its more dreary and acoustic
it's a little better than alright/5

Sonic Youth- SYR 2: Slaapkamers met slagroom
the first track is really good noise rock epic
the riffing sounds very slintesque and it has a lot of krauty repetition
the other two tracks are ehh noise rock instrumentals
3/5

I listened to Undercurrent by Kenny Drew which is a 60's hard bop album with Hubbard and Mobley among others. With that in mind you can imagine how it sounds.
Pretty prominent musicians playing a style they're very fluent on gives for some great moments, with stellar playing and very enjoyable grooves. There's also some more generic tracks which don't stand out too much but are still rather cool. I liked it.
I think I should probably start getting on with French music.

>>65157360
I like Pete, mostly his early output.I do not look forward to listening to a lot of stuff he puts out since he rarely steps out of his general style of playing and it's also not consistently as good as some favorites from him I have.

Fishmans - Dong Season
I really liked this a lot. Comfy, friendly, not afraid to get weird and use as much foley as music (p3), very cool. Occasional hard skreenks complicate otherwise perfect background music, which was a drag because I was excited to have a new work jam. Beautiful singing as well, very pretty, and I appreciate the skreenks, they just feel at odds with the mood of the bulk of this. Definitely will be revisiting this and excited to hear more. 4.0

Shikuza - Heaven's Persona
Starts with a blast of noise, which was P.good and get my hopes up, but no, the album was different. That's fine but I wish they would have revisited the p.good noise effectively. As for the rest, very pleasant but a bit uninteresting. I don't speak japanish so I can only assume the lyrics are adequate. Maybe the lyrics make the songs sound more distinct, but I can't tell. Anyway, for what the music is, it's enjoyable. He guitar sound kept reminding me of the Shaggs, which was endearing, but immaterial for a rating. Pleasant but I may or may not ever choose to listen again. 3.0

Fish advances, already recommended Fishmen - Megaultra Japanese Pointing. I look forward to it

Hi there everyone. Currently listening to pic related.
Even though I've been here for a few months, I'm still not very accustomed to people's personalities and what their taste is (other than Dogwander likes Keiji Haino, right?).
I was wondering if anyone had a chart or list that gave an overview of their taste or their all-time favourites, so I can see what you guys like that I have heard, and hear some new stuff that I haven't heard before.

Also, pic related is the artwork for the album my band is releasing tonight.

Also, what's with the gogo penguin record? (I haven't heard it).

We have a lot of similarities in our favourites, pal. I'm glad you think Tago Mago is better than Future Days, since people seem to vote the other way around on rym. In addition to that, STGSTV is the only anco release I've managed to listen to fully; the others seem to amateurish or bland to me.
I'm wondering if I should check out Faust, also because Scaruffi likes it. What's it similar to?

You managed to trigger me. Con fucking grats. Listen up you dipshit, Shamepai or Jangle are nowhere near being the worst trip. I'm talking objectively here. There is absolutely and i say ABSOLUTELY no way that one of The most developed, well Made, and thoughtfully designed trips in the whole board could be the worst ones. Fucking Montie on the other hand is some next fucking level trash, like Beefheart bitch. Comet had an azong attitude, a really traguc backstory, and an interesting personality. If you ever talk shit about them then i'm guessing you never even tried to make a trip, or just weren't paying attention, like the braindead retard you are. Second of all, you fucking missed the whole point of the pigs. Yes the shitposting thing wasn't necesary but it wasn't entirely about them, but about MAKING DOT and THEIR DAD TALK TO EACH OTHER AGAIN. Not only that but IT SOLIDIFIED THEM AS THE BEST TRIPS. Also, i don't love Shamepai Because i'm a sporkfag, as i can appreciate many types of trips, but it was the deep carácter he has, and his beautiful forehead even an asshole like me could appreciate. >The Beatniks - Existentialism
>new wave

A Interesting take on new wave from the country of Japan. The way this is mix and from the instruments they use I can't help but feel that this album was heavily influenced by the actual new wave pioneers "Japan" (especially from the album Tin Drum) and possibly a bit of Talking Heads. Overall the album is pretty neat-o; It has a nice brooding atmosphere that has a longing feels, the drumming is damn good, the vocals are a bit wonky at times and feel off place to whats going on musically, and the lyrics are what you expect when its someone from japan speaking slightly broken english but it doesn't come off that bothersome.

>no-wave, disco

When it comes down to it, this is a alternative or "avant-garde" take on the disco scene of the late 70's to early 80's. Also it's really fun, a genre bending of disco meets punk, funk, and some no-wave. The album as this nice live sound that give this great in house feel, like your there. The vibe is hip and little bratty while the songs are catchy and creative. This was definitely a good find.

Les Discrets - Septembre Et Ses Dernières Pensées
It's always interesting to listen to music in a different language because you have to consider the vocals as just another instrument and in this case that instrument is very nice. This album reminded me of gy!be's F A ∞ and had a post apocalyptic vibe to it. I loved the acoustic guitar parts that were played on top of the heavier electric guitar riffs. green diamond/10

>Psalters - Divine Liturgy of The Wretched Exiles
Amazing album. The instrumentation, the Eastern european/African thing going here was amazing. The religious themes, and the way they changed some classic religious songs was amazing. My Grips come from how at times it Feels like it drags, but goddamn everything so fucking amazing. I am in love with this album.
9/10

>Orion Rigel Dommisse - Chickens
Really cool folk. I think the eerie vibe it has going is beautiful. Gave me chills at times. But i guess near the end it kind of feels boring. But her voice and the amazing instrumentation make it for me. Would like to see more
7/10

>The United States of America - s/y
Really good album. I'm amazed this was releases in '68. Probably some of The coolest songs from the time. Really digging it, feel like it's a slowburner. But i guess that while being perfect in many senses, it just hasn't clicked with me. Some of The Noise parts are annoying. But, amazing , lovely album
