The fact that so many books still name the Beatles as "the greatest or most significant or most influential" rock band ever only tells you how far rock music still is from becoming a serious art. Jazz critics have long recognized that the greatest jazz musicians of all times are Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, who were not the most famous or richest or best sellers of their times, let alone of all times. Classical critics rank the highly controversial Beethoven over classical musicians who were highly popular in courts around Europe. Rock critics are still blinded by commercial success. The Beatles sold more than anyone else (not true, by the way), therefore they must have been the greatest. Jazz critics grow up listening to a lot of jazz music of the past, classical critics grow up listening to a lot of classical music of the past. Rock critics are often totally ignorant of the rock music of the past, they barely know the best sellers. No wonder they will think that the Beatles did anything worthy of being saved.

This is a Long Drive is overrated as fuck and drags in the middle. Talking Shit About a Pretty Sunset is their best song though

Death Grips aren't really that out there or weird, their lyrics doesn't mean shit, their "mysticism" is dumb and gimmicky, and there are way better industrial Hip-hop artists out there.

I don't think I'd be happy with any career other than performing in a band. I like to sing and play the guitar but my local music scene is practically nonexistent, I don't know where I should move to, and nobody I know is as passionate about music as I am that they would be willing to drop everything and form a band.

Question about the KKD... Why do you guys listen to Kendrick Lamarr so much? Why can't you seem to stop talking about him? Honestly, I'm trying to understand. His music is boring.
In fact, all your rap rap and RnB music is really kind of overhyped around here. Why does there need to be ten new threads about it every day? Drake, Kayne, Kendrick. It almost seems to be never-ending with those guys.
Their music is good enough, but don't you ever feel like you're overhyping it? It's just getting old, that's all. It never was really all that new to begin with if you ask me. Tee hee.
How can you get that excited about their music? It's just like, middle of the road at best. I thought this was a forum devoted to good music and honestly half the time it just seems like all I see are the KKD (Kanye Kendrick Drake) and KPOP threads with smatterings of Swans and memes
I mean, come on guys. Can't we go one day without bringing up TSwift, Beyonce, or the KKD? I find it hard to believe anyone honestly listens to that stuff and has anything to really say about it beyond "oh that was a good beat." Or "Kayne talked about gucci jeans pretty good on that one." Or "Damn, Drake and his girlfriend sound like they sent a lot of texts to eachother on that beat."
I mean, are you guys kidding me or something? Are we allowed to talk about music here or is this just a place for KKD to spam ads for their shitty music?
