Just finished this album
What did I think of it?
>See me on the front cover of the magazine
>Winning, Sheen
Lackluster lyrics considering I recently listened to Imperial and The Impossible Kid.
>>65102221
>Bloodclot on the beat rocking Gucci sneaks
>>65102221
Yeah that one was a particularly terrible lyric, but the grime instrumentals are mostly great and the hooks as well
Really surprised by It Ain't Safe. Sounds like an old Three 6 Mafia track, fucking awesome
>>65103021
I know very little about grime but isn't it true that dirty south is the original scene's primary influence?
>>65102127
>Just finished this album
>What did I think of it?
What did he mean by this?
>>65103186
No.
>>65102221
Did he purposefully insert a horrible out of place line into every song so no one would like the album?
>>65103186
yeah grime is just brits trying to rip off dirty south and trap rap
>>65103881
The album's being pretty well received though.
>>65102221
>I hate man like a nun
Honestly, my only complaint of this album is that so many of the singles had already been released.
I had heard 5 of the 12 tracks on the album before the album came out, no leaks, all officially released.
Other than that I was honestly really impressed. Spent a year of anticipation being told by /mu/ and "real grime" fans that Skepta was trash and that Konnichiwa would suck, but he really came through with it.
This is exactly what grime needed as a genre.

Shitbait
>>65104319
>implying its not true
lol britfag
>>65102221
>>65104033
>And if you don't like it then fuck me
>Not literally but fuck me
>>65102127
I like it but it does seen like there's at least one weak bar per track
old man whos trying to stay relevant by acting like a 16yr old gangsterrr
>>65102127
love this shit. even the cornball lines are brought out with such charm it's hard not to like
It aight. Numbers is laughably bad tho.
>>65102127
Ladies Hit Squad is best, purely because it has a Dee Double feature.
Shutdown, That's not me and detox are bearable.
Overall it was complete shit.
>>65103881
Retarded bars are part of what makes grime so great.
>I'm a weed consuma
>Get my eyeballs red like Akuma
>>65102678
>the grime instrumentals are mostly great
Yeah, the two that were on the record.
>>65106632
Eh I'd say most of the instrumentals here are grime desu.
Yeah it's commercialised and intended for wider audiences but it's still very much grimey.
>>65106907
nah
it's mostly trap instrumentals
>>65106920
I feel like if you showed this to an American they would definitely notice a different sound.
Lyrics, Man, Shutdown, That's Not Me, Detox, and Text Me Back are 100% grime.
The rest aside from Ladies Hit Squad and Numbers are all very much grime inspired desu.

You must run out of bars quite easily anon.
>>65103021
that tracks been out for a long time now, definitely my favorite track of his. wish he would do more like that but who knows, I liked crime riddim too
>>65103186
not at all, grime came from London's garage scene
I know very little about grime but I was definitely hoping this album would have more interesting production considering how much talk there is about London's electronic music scenes. Do they just not crossover with the rappers?
>>65110151
They do sometimes, but generally when most grime artists do albums nowadays they sell out hard and get basic trappy production and big names on it.

Numbers is the best song.
Pharrell's voice is corny as fuck but sonically the track is fantastic.
>>65108846
I have Palace, does that count? Am I LONDON enough?
>I'm looking for a girl with an X factor
>But I don't judge like Simon does
I'd say the rejection buzzer is some sort of metacommentary on how awful the line is if it wasn't for the other examples of totally not self aware terrible lyricism ITT
>>65112025
This idiotic, blatantly obvious non self-aware lyricism is what's great about grime tho.
>I GOT MONEY IN THE BANK
>I'M A BANKER
>YOU AIN't GOT MONEY IN THE BANK
>YOU'RE A WANKER

read into the history of dance music and you'll find that grime is inextricably linked to uk garage and the hardcore continuum
