I know it's not popular to say but In Utero is pretty spotty material-wise. A clear decline in the effort invested into the songs and the music. It's deficits are warped into an artistic statement by the overall tone but it was the death gasp of a great band running out of ideas.

I still like Nirvana and I own all of their discography physically and even some of the more famous boots that were put out but past the age of 15 I realised Kurt wasn't anyway original in what he did and without the buzz behind him Nirvana would have been like any other alt rock band that came before them; it was a case of right place right time. Does this mean I don't like their music? No. It just means I enjoy it for what it is and recognise its flaws but appreciate the roots of it.
