countless emo bands have pop punk and indie rock sounds. there is no purist version of what an emo band should be, there is too much variety on the spectrum between mineral, orchid, cap n jazz, the get up kids, and the appleseed cast.

It is far more accurate to stay that there are pop punk and indie rock bands that take influence from emo, and vice versa. Emo and indie rock were contemporaries that both took influence from punk, and pop punk is much older than either.

its a topic ive been wanting to discuss, concerning the recent influx of indie rockish sound by emo revival bands.
my theory is that bands like pinegrove and sorority noise are going to blow up as the sound diverges down that path.

Try Sunny Day Real Estate if you want a more emo sound. I'd also recommend Rozwell Kid iff you want a more pop sound, I wouldn't say it's emo but it I got it recommended to me in an emoe thread and enjoyed it.
