a friend bought some boring les paul with a missing nut and reworked the pickups into some weird triple setup, installed custom high-pass and low-pass filters and added some extra capacitors and stronger resistances for some fuzz.

Self build or hire someone who will make you a weird pedal steel type setup but the hook is that it has two sound pots.
That means no head and it lays flat.

Real answer. Don't pick your gear as a reaction to other people. You'll end up without a meme setup guaranteed if you try that. Go to the shop and play a bunch of stuff. Buy what sounds good to you. That said it matters more what you play than the gear. You can be a blooze dad with virtually any setup.
Plenty of left-field guitarists play though pretty standard gear. You don't need to over think gear stuff to be a stand out guitar player.
If you want to go full hipster the setup you described could work. Ironically playing a Jackson dinky works too.
