TLDR:
>taking speed
>trying to produce a bunch of songs from scratch tonight
>taking requests
>all kinds of love, hate and random discussions welcome
>please no porn
Hey fellas, I'm a 23 year old anonymous Finn. You most definitely don't know me, but I've been producing music and trying to self-learn guitar, cello and piano for almost a decade (god damn I should probably be much better at this point). I've self studied the more theoretical aspects of music and know my way around both hard and software synths.
>So why are you doing this?
Recently I got fed up by the fact that I haven't finished anything lately (I've started a bit over 200 projects in the past year and finished two), so I decided to take some speed and try to produce as many songs as I can in one sitting. With no real plan, I'm going to see where the flow takes me. I hope it does indeed take me somewhere, but since I'm your typical lazy piece of shit I can't make any guarantees.
I'm in for this just for fun, even at best I stand to gain nothing from this. Since this is not about self promotion, but rather a cool experiment, I created a blank soundcloud account just for this project.
Assuming I don't end up watching porn for 8 hours (has happened before), I'll be updating this thread with new songs every now and then for the next 12 hours or so. My workflow is going to have to be very fast paced, which means that each song will get a rough mix only for now. Main focus will be divided between musicality and production.
I'm also taking requests through the night, I have experience from most genres ranging from EDM to hip hop to ambient and all many kinds guitar music.
The songs will be uploaded to https://soundcloud.com/thirddimensiontourist and posted on this thread.

So let's begin, here's the intro for our album:

Bumping in order to avoid archive. New song will be ready in 1-2 hours. All uploaded songs will be downloadable.

I have to admit that I usually don't enjoy any of the music that people post on here but that guitar intro was legit pretty sweet. Sure, it was a bit generic, but it had a good feel to it.
Well, I am interested in the outcome of this project, so I will bump the thread to prevent archiving

Make an oceangrunge album.
Take 1 part ocean and 1 part grunge.

Ha, it has not been easy resisting the urges but I'm determined to finish at least a couple of songs before a furious fapping session. New song is almost finished, it is going to be a bit of a little eccentric mishmash of ideas.

Thanks, i'll check those out soon

Already sniffed the whole 1 gram bag. Needless to say, it's pretty shitty speed overall, but nevertheless it seems like just the perfect balance of productivity and sobriety for this kind of activity.

Please do. The more I've learnt about music and the theory behind it, the harder it has become to stay inspired and keep the magic. I can do pretty produce pretty much anything IF there's motivation or ideas ready at hand, but for the past couple of years both of those have been lacking seriously. I'll gladly support your production /recording phase if it means that I don't have to be the songwriter/idea man.

Please link a couple of songs you like and I'll try to create a similar song with my own twist.

Also, the key to getting such guitars is multiple rounds of reverb, time strech and sometimes saturation. Basically:
>record 2-3 overlapping guitar tracks,
>add subtle reverb and saturation to taste. Keep the frequency flat and balanced, perhaps even a bit upwards towards the highs.
>Some high/lowpass often needed
>render
>timestretch either up or down somewhere between 0-1200 cents (that's one octave)
>repeat until the guitars sound lofi and massive.

Tempo is slightly too fast or I'm just getting tired. Keeping a break now, will come back in 1-2 hours unless the comedown gets me.

Thanks!
Oh and by the way, I found this kind of an old idea on my HDD. I'm pretty insecure about it and not sure whether and how to continue, but if someone sees value in it I will try. Anybody feel like lending a fresh pair of ears?
