What's /mu/'s opinion on pic related? I can't say I don't enjoy listening to it from time to time but I don't think it aged very well in terms of its lyricism.

complete shit

I loved it when I was an edgy teen. I'm glad I've grown up, but I still like it.
>>65047951
This. But Jesus of Suburbia is still a great song.
>>65047291
Good
>>65047291
Terrible album. If you like it you're probably underaged
Good album. I still listen to it. I still like it.

I bought Dookie on Day 1 when I was 12. I am shocked they are not only still popular, but managed a resurgance with American Idiot era Green Day.
I remember crowd surfing at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall that fall when they came to my city. I lost my shoe. good times.
>>65047291
They deserve respect for managing to re-launch their career after a couple of bad albums.
Dookie, American Idiot and maybe even 21st Century Breakdown are pretty decent. The rest is shit.
Jesus of Suburbia was my theme growing up as an edge lord, I still think it's great.

It has aged horribly and is incredibly top heavy with the first four songs eclipsing the rest of the album. However it is a fun listen and one of their better albums. Personally I prefer Warning though.
>>65049450
I think the non-singles are the best songs.
>>65047291
The lyrics were always shit on this thing, but as a collection of catchy rock songs, it's aged very very well.
I used to really like this album when I was around 14, now think it's shitty
Jesus of Suburbia is still a great song tho
I think it was probably the single best expression of Bush era American culture ever to be produced.
>>65047291
damn i thought /mu/ liked it
but yes its complete shit
>>65047291
literally the best thing they have ever done. dookie is alright but everything else is shit.
In their top 3 albums with Dookie and Insomniac. A tad overrated, but a good listen. Definitely recommend it.
>best
Holiday
>worst
Are We The Waiting
>>65047291
linkin park is shit
The climax of the album
>You're not the Jesus of Suburbia
>The Saint Jimmy is a figment of
>Your father's rage and your mother's love
>Made me the idiot America
Chills every time.
The whole album bar Wake Me Up When September ends and Boulevard of Broken Dreams is really good. Saint Jimmy in particular has wonderful lyrics, some of my favourites. And anyone dismissing most of the catalogue has not heard Kerplunk.
1. Give Me Novocaine
2. Jesus of Suburbia
3. Letterbomb
4. St. Jimmy
5. We Are The Waiting
6. American Idiot
7. Homecoming
8. She's A Rebel
9. Holiday
10. Boulevard Of Broken Dreams
11. Wake Me Up When September Ends
12. Whatsername
13. Extraordinary Girl

I like Kerplunk, but it's pretty contrarian to think it's one of their best. The low production quality hurts it, and it really feels like a beta Dookie.
Fucking hell lads, no wonder you like this album.
/mu/ is filled with edgy faggots and considering this album is just screaming "FUCK AUTHORITY" it's like a match made in heaven.

wew
listened to it like every day when i was 14
tried listening to it again (24 now) and it made me cringe a bit, still has some catchy ass songs though
>>65047291
It's not bad, it actually managed perfectly to be what it was intended to be - a catchy pop rock/pop punk album. I would never call it any form of high art, but it provides the intented fun.
Plus, we loved playing them with my band.

>here's something better

dearly beloved
are you listening?
>>65047291
I can still bear to sit through the whole album years later, so that definitely says something.
The Trilogy is better than AI, faggots.

logical conclusion of pop punk
My fave album of all time
Top five album by a pretty passable pop punk band. Unpretentious music for teens that perfectly performs its function.
Legitimately better than half of the Pitchfork-core that comes through these parts.
Objectively as good as Kid A

I don't know about that one, scruffles

Nimrod is the most overrated album.
Jesus of Suburbia is good except it sounds really recycled, and kinda reminds me of the chorus Bryan Adams' Summer or 69. We Are The Waiting and Wake Me Up are good pop songs.
The rest is ok but nothing to write home about.
>>65047291
The most famous songs from it (Title track, Jesus of Suburbia, Boulevard of Broken Dreams) are still great, but the whole album is pretty underwhelming and convoluted.
