I want to become le knowledgeable hip-hop patrician. Started with this melon list and some Biggie and Tupac (not memeing though). Where do I go from here? Just listen to the rest of the /mu/-core hip-hop? Anything besides strictly music I should look into, like some documentaries or some shit?

not really, jay z is one of the msot skilled and sublte rappers musically, plus lyrically he's a lot more interesting than big l's punclines and endless multisyllabic rhymes
Big L didn't get a chance to develop his craft as much as Jay Z has, obviously. If you compare them at the same stages of their careers, Big L had already surpassed Jay Z significantly.
