What does /mu/ think of jam bands? Honestly never seen this discussed on here.

Grateful Dead are one of my favorite bands. So of course I love JGB and other Dead-related projects (except with the recent John Mayer-lineup)

I don't really care about any other jam-band jam-bands. Unless you mean it in a loose sense like Animal Collective or psych-experimental shit or something.

Allman Bros are okay. Phish shows can have really fucking amazing jams but I don't really feel like listening to their kind of songs though.

Phish is an all-time favorite for me. It just stuns me on this board nobody here lives for live music. Some of these musicians can improvise and create a cohesive force with their band mates and make a product that no band can grace in the studio with written out music.

op bumping here. nobody have any opinions? favorite jam bands?

same boat here, check out Joe Russo's Almost Dead if you haven't already. Not really digging the whole John Mayer thing either

Was just about to make a thread like this.
I just saw 3 nights of Umph @ First ave. It was amazing.

Umph is the most musically talented band touring now (imo)
If there was any band to drop your life and follow...
>>
The Grateful Dead and Phish are the only good ones.

I used to like Ozric Tentacles when I was really into drugs but now I can't get anything out of their music.
>>
There are a shit tons of middle tier jambands that are really fuckin good. The famous jam bands are starting to get old and there is a new generation ready to take over.
