It is just really boring to me. It sounds like a lot of their previous stuff, but worse - though technically better. It just seems like it lacks impact/soul to me. Plus I like how a lot of the albums have their own "themes" or at least sub-themes within them.

Everyone is saying bp is super easy to get into and only requires a first listen, etc. But to me it's so fucking hard to get into, it's so draining with how similar a lot of the songs are, it's almost tedious. Which I've never thought about their music.

To a degree yes. ExM was hard and sample laden. TMS was bright and aggressive. NLDW was dark and aggressive: NLDW is my go to DG album. Apart from those three I still love their other albums. Perhaps as I look back with my jaded mindset I see those as the most entertaining or possibly cohesive albums. However, their new material is highly chaotic, synthetic and unpredictable. I attribute this to their artistic process: trying to outdo themselves. I feel like if anything Bottomless Pit embraces NOTM, JD, and TMS and creates a discordic, bright, and angry recollection of their prior works. They're going to make whatever they want, fuck whose watching.

People hated it when it came out because Ride was only on half of the songs and for many fans that departure from their usual music was too strong so they hated it. But now as Death Grips has diversified their music more people are starting to realize that it's actually a really good album. It aged much better than some of their other albums.
