So are these headphones actually good? are they just meme-tier.
>>
yes they're good. best you can get for under $150.
>>
I've had a pair for about a year now. They're fantastic.
>>

Am i the only one who can't tell the difference between different headphones?
>>
they sound amazing for the price but they get uncomfortable after a while
>>
>>64755246
I have the M40x and they are great, I can only imagine the M50x is even better.
>>

yes

I prefer these
>>
>>64755246
Had mine for 4 years, worth it.
>>
>>64755547
maybe i just have big ears but it seems to be a common complaint, i still have the stock pads so that might be a problem too
>>
I have a pair but I can't seem to distinguish from high quality sound and the stuff I'm streaming. Do I need an amp for these? My PCs sound board isn't very good
>>
>>64755860

I think you need like studio quality monitors to notice those differences. Usually the difference between 320kbps mp3 and FLAC is prominent in the stereo, it'll sound wider. That's a bit hard to notice with headphones because the stereo matrix isn't large enough.
>>
i have them and they sound good but i agree with >>64755553 my ears get very tired after a session of making music
>>
>>64755733
i still have the stock pads too, it's probably ear size. but i use sr850's to record with cuz open back, and those hurt my ear long before the m50's do if ever
>>
what are a better pair of headphones? something around $200-250
>>
>>64755932
>320kbps mp3 and FLAC
lmao if you make music or are an avid listener and cant tell the difference bw mp3 and flac in headphones, or even out cpu speakers for that matter there is something seriously wrong with your hearing

yup, if you've actually recorded and produced music there's an obvious difference between 320 and uncompressed
>>
>>64756685
>>64756106

Shut the fuck up dude you're not gonna hear it on $120 headphones.
>>
Does no one else feel like these rip your fucking hair out once you've been wearing them for a certain length of time then take them off? Gets all caught up in the leather.
>>
>>64755499
>>64755447
Agreed, honestly don't like wearing them for long periods of time, feels kind of tight.
>>
>>64755526
same i choose the m40x because i wanted something more flat. very comfortable imo

both. they're good but not that good and there are better alternatives for the same price. they have a reputation as being babby's first headphone and our popular amongst redditors
>>

ffs
>>
They are definitely a meme, there are so many better choices you can get for around the same price range
EX: Beyerdynamic DT770, HD 598, Philips Fidelio X1, hell even the Sony MDR-V6 would be a better choice
>>
>>64755246
uncomfortable as fuck like having your head in a vice after about 5 minutes

>>
listening to them rn. you can find them on amazon for sale new, $100. do it senpai
>>
>>64759107
i'm just trying to explain to OP why they're considered a meme. there are legitimate reasons not to use them as I pointed out

>>
>>64755246
They're the best I've used, but I've only used that and ATH-AD700s (which had an unbelievable sound-stage but did a shit job filtering outside noise.)
>>
They're definitely good. They squash the lower mids a bit so you can hear the sub, which is nice. However, I've made some mixes on them with weaker lower mids then I'd prefer. Easy enough solution is to just check the mix on different headphones. I would definitely recommend them

You should mix on speakers, over ear headphones, and ear buds, desu. You aren't just mixing for yourself, you are mixing for your audience.

I've always been a big fan of these, and the pair I had broke a little while ago. If there's nothing better I think I'm just gonna get these again.

Funny that Sony actually makes a product that isn't a piece of shit for once.

Depends on whether you want open or closed.

Sennheiser HD 598's blow them out of the water if you don't have a preference.

Thoughts on these? It's within my budget.
>>
>>64761161

I'd recommend against buying anything that's not heavily reviewed.

Besides, it depends on what you need. For instance, if you wanted some portability and don't need a ton of sound isolation, I'd go for the Porta Pro's. Music production? Sony MDR-7506. Personal listening? AKG-240.

Anything reputable and well-reviewed is gonna be hard to go wrong with.
>>
>>64755246
complete meme get the T-50rp
>>
>>64761239

To clarify, by heavily reviewed, I mean like hundreds of reviews on amazon or a reputable line of headphones. AKG, Beyerdynamic, Sennheiser are all very reputable.
>>
i am on a budget of 40USD, any recommendations?

Read the thread. It depends on what you need, go for something well-reviewed. Google "/g/ headphone guide" for some suggestions.

Do u guys think ppl wearing headphones in public look retarded or edgy? I really like headphones but they ruin my hair and I feel self-conscious
>>
>>64761239
AKG-240s are above my price range, unfortunately.
I only have about ~$55. I like closed back with a detachable cable and over ears.
Might have to settle with something else because I feel like what I need and the amount of money I have are not flexible.
>>

I saw a bunch of people wearing them downtown today. It looks pretty normal these days.

MDR v6?
AD700x?
HM5/9?
Takstar Pro80?

Seriously m50's are nowhere near as good as they were a few years ago compared to the market now
You guys should explore other options, you might be surprised at how bad your precious m50s actually sound for the price
>>
>>64758507
My AD700's I can wear for hours on end, and I think they sound way better than my M50x's. But unfortunately I can't always use the 700's since they're open cans.

brainwavz hybrids. If you got some big ass ears like me get the angled pleather/velour. All of these are under $30.
