i think it deserves a 9 or above, and i think it will probably get it. i'm predicting a 9.3. they might also give it a 10 to boost page views just cus.
the real question is what Fantano will think of it, and i honestly think he will give it a light 9/strong 8 as well.
i think people can tell it's very good, but only time will tell how good it is.
whatever it gets, it's going to be interesting to see how it affects the rym score

They've given perfect 10s to worse albums than this. It should and probably will get above a 9.

Actually, 9, I just listened to Present Tense again and I really liked it.

It's not radical or experimental enough to deserve a serious definitive statement so it's gonna be like the review of the new Beyonce album. It will get a high safe grade like 9.3 and BMN and the entire review will just be a description of the album covering all of the bases but not offering any actual criticism.
That way if it's remembered as a classic in 5 years they can point to their high grade and BNM to still seem relevant and if it's instantly forgotten it can be "another worthwhile effort from a legendary band."
COVER ALL BASES has been the P4K model the last year or two. Write reviews that offer no criticism or substance so the site can seem "right" no matter how it all turns out.
Since they're probably rating both James Blake and Radiohead this week, one will get an undeservedly low score (7 something?) and the other will get a 9.5.

This album is going to get a 6-7.5 no matter what it deserves. Pitchfork can look edgy as long as it appears indifferent to old, established artists like Radiohead.

After the first two singles, I was ready for the disappointment. The 5.0 out of 10.
Turns out, the two singles don't really go with the rest of the album at all and are the two weakest songs on the album.
Aside from the two singles it'd be a 10/10.
