As for Grimes, she already has 4 great albums released and she's becoming more and more successful and appreciated.
I hope not. I love the music but musicians shouldn't take such a controlling attitude in areas like video direction and maybe even producing.
Its cool to see it a few times but shunning input and trying to be a generalist is a waste and it shows in her videos. Appears in the lyrics too desu -about a third of Art Angels is her complaining about her fans.
I get that when she was starting out sound engineers spoke down to her but that's no reason to go George Lucas about it.

Grimes is WAY more diverse and innovative than Enya, who did the same new age stuff for... ages. Their voices are slightly similar, but that's all. You'll never hear an Enya song like Kill V. Maim or Circumambient too soon.
