>tfw transitioning to adulthood
>becoming NEET rather than just lazy kid
>losing interest in music
>library feels smaller and smaller
>barely ever finding new shit
>tastes barely expanding
it'll happen to most of you too. enjoy the constant sense of wonder and discovery while you still can, and don't take it for granted.
>depression is dissolving your ability to enjoy life
>"I-I'm just growing up!"
>transitioning to adulthood
>becoming NEET

just take a break, stop listening to music back to back everyday and do other shit. you'll find new stuff don't worry about it.
>>64677035
don't see why it can't be both
I've always suffered from crippling depression, the slow-down in music discovery (and writing FWIW) only became a factor when I hit like 17. I'm almost 20 now and it's only gotten worse.

anon I haven't "just listened to music" in months, possibly a year+. the closest I'll get is driving aimlessly with music on.
It's the opposite for me. Working takes all my time/energy. I'm just too tired/busy to check out new music. When I was NEET, I would listen to/play music all day for the most part.
I hate working, sometimes I think I'd rather just be NEET again.
>>64677637
what do you do
>>64676869
>becoming NEET
why would you even do this?
theres literally the most amount of music being made now than any time in history.

I lost most of my interest in music after my teens ended, but I didn't get depressed- the opposite, in fact. Trying to reconnect a bit with music now but it doesn't get me like it used to.

My job isn't too bad. I work in the shipping department at a smallish company, and I check that what we're sending out is accurate.
It's a pretty chill job, I get to listen to music, don't have to deal with customers. I just wish I had more time to devote to music. I always felt like I was a good musician, and now I'm losing my skills. It sucks.
I am 19 and feel you on this OP
>already an adult
>applied for community college and hopefully a transfer to a university when finished
>have a job but hate it and constantly searching for a new job that's closer to school
>music interests growing larger and dreams of composing but I'll stick to the current plan
>feel like art music is a huge place to learn, eith many experiences and more to understand even after listening many times
Maybe you're just and anti intellectual piece of filth?
>>64677721
because I dropped out and I'm too depressed to find work
>>64678014
don't you like ANY popular music, weebfriend?
>>64677832
that sounds cool. how did you get the job? im in the opposite boat. i have all the time in the world to play music and i do with a friend but i need to start supporting myself
>tfw spend all day in my room fucking around on Ableton with my midi keyboard
>only leave the house to go to class and buy food
>still haven't put anything out because I'm a perfectionist and have a hard time taking criticism
>mfw I remind myself this is the life I chose
>>64678273
dont worry about criticism. if you think its good it is good
>>64678232
I've been listening to good kid maad city for Kendrick's commentary on ghetto culture or at least his subjective experience of it as of late. I do try to keep up to date on popular music if that's what you're asking as I don't want to be left with no knowledge of it and using the same criticisms.
>management and label wanting new music
>crippling depression and anxiety prevents you from writing
>passion becomes nightmare job
just a reminder that this shit is tough.
