the most interesting aspect of it for me is that its coming from a trans woman in 2016 (a big year for trans visibility and discussion in mainstream media). musically its ok . similar sounds and structures im used to on sort of electronic pop releases. kind of underwhelming from opn and hudmo tho. shes a good singer and its produced well. but good in the traditional sense of it. not striking me as anything new in that regard. its important only because it raises the issues of 2016 in a sound that sounds very 2016. meaning it probably wont age well.

This is like the only reasonable comment about this album I've seen on this website lol. For me personally, I just find the music kind of heavy. Like, I don't entirely disagree with her politics, and it isn't necessarily a bad thing to make political music, but I feel like I couldn't get into this for the same reason I couldn't get into TPAB.
Like I'm hearing this album being described as "the most profound protest record in decades" and I'm straight up not fucking buying this bullshit. Yeah fair enough it's definitely a protest record but none of the lyrics on it are even slightly "profound", they're about as on-the-nose and almost as safe as possible, "bombing innocent people is bad" "global warming sucks" "political tension is bad sometimes" there's a literally a tune on here where it's mostly just repeating "never again, give birth to violent men." There isn't shit on this album that's thought-provoking, fucking hell, why is it getting such rave reviews? Can't be the music because from what I've heard there isn't a great hook to be found.

I think what we have here is a case of closed-inclusion (a social effect caused by liberal leanings).
Instead of physically doing something about social matters and injustices, there's passive activism in the form of tweets, hashtags, and other online activism that doesn't actually do anything for the victims or cause at large but it categorizes them as the sole baby, thereby rendering helpless and in return the activists can sleep at night knowing they did something to help.
