I'm not looking to change my opinion (it's a 10/10) but I want to hear why people might not like it. Sometimes it's stupid shit that ruins it for people like vocals, I've personally never let anything like that keep me from liking something. It's a better thread idea than at least half of the threads in the catalogue
I love that album. But...
Richard Hell, Patti Smith, and Jim Carroll were all better lyricists than Tom Verlaine
Robert Quine was a better and more interesting guitarist than Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd combined.
Look up the structure of the baroque era. The title track literally follows that structure. This is more the type of thing prog bands like Yes and ELP would do, and is about as prog as it is punk
Television was a wilder, rawer band when Hell was the bassist
Richard Lloyd seems like kind of a tool
they were the most technically adept band in the early American punk scene, yet they weren't nearly as groundbreaking as Pere Ubu, Suicide, or the no wave bands
>Thoughts?
I personally think it's an absolute gem.
