How many people on /mu/ are trying to make music their full-time career?
How many people on /mu/ have resigned themselves to working another job while making / playing music?
How many people on /mu/ have given up?
I'm Kanye
My old plan was to write music for films and games, but the market is oversaturated with composers so my new plan is to play bass on cruise ships.
What are you up to?

Even most reasonably successful local musicians I know have jobs. Every writer I know has a day job. The key is to set yourself up doing something related to your creative focus. If you're a musician, consider working in a music studio, working for a record label, working as a music journalist, being a DJ, or something like that.
If you're a writer, consider doing some work as a journalist, a translator, a PR man, etc.
If you're an artist, get into graphic design.
Etc.

I come from a shitty town in Southern Italy.
I never had a chance from the start. I try to live my life as comfy as possible, while I do things I like.
For me playing in a band that makes good music would be a dream come true.... but I lack talent and connections.

Feels man
I work 40+ hours a month and hardly have the money or time to make music. I have periods of inspiration where I get lots made but I'm never fully happy with the finished product and I don't have time to put my whole business plan into place nor the money to fund recording (I'm a rapper producer)
