Is there such a thing as being too diatonic?
What's a good recording of Cage's sonatas and interludes?

i hate so much listening to live recordings...
Yesterday i was lying on my couch , listening to Mahler 9th. Last moments of the 4th movement.... Audience coughing all over the place.
Why? Just why? That should be illegal, all music should be recorded in a FUCKING PROFESSIONAL STUDIO you fucking bungholes!
>>64622770
Just have to learn to tolerate it. On some recordings it can be unbearably bad, but a lot of the time I find that it is fairly easy to look past.
Some of the best conductors have considerably more interesting recordings which were done live. Many were not comfortable in the studio, or were prone to becoming apathetic, or were just annoyed at the studio process all together.
"You may give an excellently played, genuinely felt performance of a movement, but because the engineer is not satisfied because there is some rustling at one point, so you do it again and this time something else goes wrong. By the time you get a "perfect" take of the recording the players are bored, the conductor is bored, and the performance is lifeless and boring. ... I detest all my own records." (Monteux)
Is studying music in college a waste of time?

Mozart also had to grow up underrated. He had to make something of himself.

Do you think these interpretations are a bit too watery? It sounds like lame background music from a LARP event. I'd like to hear this kind of music played by men with scrotal hair that resembled dried dill.
