anything like Sad Sappy Sucker out there? I'd really like some vibes like this.

thanks. this is new for me. great suggestion.
No problem. Also look into Ariel Pink's earlier lo-fi stuff, specifically pic related. Real similar atmosphere but with a bit more catchy pop in the mix.

ok. Some of the tracks on on Beat Happening are giving a huge Daniel Johnston vibe which I did not expect to find anywhere else. Just the matter of fact Vocals with a drum beat and a lofi guitar here and there really but I'm digging it.
A friend once told me Ariel Pink was great and we listened to some of it. It did absolutely nothing for me. I'm very willing to give it another try so I'll check that thing next.

Beat Happening is also giving off that Juno OST vibe with the female vocals. Kimya Dawson and Moldy Peaches sometimes. Just saying because /mu/ should be about talking about music and throwing thoughts around instead of this bs meme factory

Lover Boy is more like Sad Sappy Sucker to me. Very different and so far I'm enjoying it. Maybe it's all the Margaritas I've been having tonight.

It does have a very distinct sound to it apart from his works. Never see it get referenced here though so that's a shame.
As for Beat Happening, I know Modest Mouse was largely influenced by them and felt the vibe as well so I just had to suggest them right off the bat. Jamboree is also good but everything after sort of goes downhill in my opinion.

oh cool. I never really looked into Mouse's influences. You're giving me quite a bit to listen to for one person. I'll check Jamboree next. Thanks for your contributions. plz throw what ever you want at me next if you want. Even unrelated faves of yours or something.

omg I've totally heard Indian Summer off this album before. nice. btw I skipped to this record halfway through the Ariel Pink one. It was good but not a staple in my catalog. ty though. I'll probably listen to some of it again. Beat Happening is off the charts fun for me.

I'm glad you liked it anon. I remember listening to both their their s/t and Jamboree for months like nothing else mattered. It also helped through tough tines a few years back.
Swirlies is also great for a last suggestion. rock-oriented but meaningful with some radio bits, very much like Sad Sappy Sucker as well.

I've heard some of Blonder Tongue Audio Baton. I Have been going back to Pancake for a few years now but I'll give their repertoire a more serious listen soon.
