lol asshole.
but seriously guys my most expensive headphones are razer krakens. I've got a decent job now, so what headphones should I buy? Let's say $400 and under. I know "brands" like audiotechnica, sennheiser, akg, but which models do you guys prefer and why?
>inb4 HE'S DERAILING THE THREAD
if you don't want to answer then don't respond
not a collection really
did the foam mod
ps: I shiver at the tought of sharing this board with people who listen to music with shitty headphones
>>64596899
depends on what kinda genre of music you listen to.
>>64597112
sadly mostly /mu/core, but I have a preference for folk and lo-fi
>>64596899
If you want some more portable ones, I have audio-technica ath-es770H headphones, excellent quality. Might be hard to cop depending on where you are though
>>64596899
Start with low end stuff. Do research. Id recommend the brainwavz hm5 as a good starting headphone
>>64596928
>tfw I have those too
Only shitty thing is how much they leak sound so you can only listen in a private space.
>>64597324
yeah that kinda sucks, but it the place where I am is kinda noisy I'll still use them
>>64597369
and one girl talked to me because she heard I was listening to grimes so it's not always bad
These cheapos from China are like 30 bucks and sound fine
Grado SR60
Koss KSC75
Audio-Technica ATH-M50x
Sennheiser HD 598 SE
Sennheiser Momentum
Heard many good things about pic related so I decided to give them a shot.
These headphones sound AMAZING for a pair of closed back cans. Really lightweight and comfy too with the velour pads.
>>64597560
thom yorke knows
>>64597369
True, awkward if you listen to abrasive shit though, everyone will just assume that you're weird and trying to go deaf.
Plus the sound leak works both ways - the most noise I can tolerate in the background is the sound of a fan/AC unit, otherwise outside noise becomes too distracting. Luckily I still have my previous Sennheisers which were designed to contain sound so I still those for when I'm not home.
It's like Tyrone gently shoves his penis into my eardrums whenever the baterist kicks the drum
More bass than beats and honestly I like them. Mids and highs are recessed so you can listen at loud volumes without getting ear raped
>>64597324
>>64597369
>>64597764
HD598s are open-back and all open-back headphones leak sound. They sound way better than closed-back though, but I'd still go with closed-back or IEMs in public.
>>64597873
yeah the soundstage or whatever it's called is amazing, especially at high volumes
>>64597873
I know that already - I prefer listening to stuff as loud as possible so the 598s are just an absolute no-go for me in public.
I agree about the sound, too. The dynamic range is a lot more noticeable, and directional sound feels a lot smoother too. And you get way less distortion, since closed-back headphones will bounce the music back and forth.
dummies literally think these are better then beats. I only have one pair of headphones and they're literally better then any of these. Clear crisp highs, huge bass and awesome mids, everything that these headphones lack.

here's your reply
>momentum wireless over ear
>HD 598
>g930
>QC 25
>pc360
>Get a job
>Buy these
>Wish I waited another week and brought $1k ranged headphones
I mean they're very good but would I feel I could've gotten more enjoyment if I sacrificed an extra $400.
Of cause the question I'd ask you all is if I went too far.
>>64598498
no you wouldn't have my man, it's the same shit, minor differences
I got them from a hamper from work. I can't why people give it so much shit, They work as good (if not better) than my old sennheisers.
>>64598471
>HD598
Kek nice memes m80
Beyerdynamics DT-150
Bought this for sound capture
>>64597793
That sounds fucking awful. What do you do when you want music that isn't marketed to teenagers?
I just own a pair of ATH MX50s for home/production use and some 80 dollar Monsters for out and about use. What else should I get?
>V Moda LP2
Stylish, comfy, best quality, super durable.
>>64599209
you're forgetting extremely bass heavy and colored-sounding - not as bad as beats, but i'm glad they toned it down with the m100s and m80s
the way they look like they'd fit right in with an assassin's creed cosplay makes 'stylish' also debatable, but i can't argue that they're not durable as fuck
>>64599315
I use them for 100% hip hop/rap so the bass is a plus but i do get for other genres they're pretty bass heavy.
Either the m100s or m80s were gonna be my next buy
>M50s
>Xiamoi Pistons 2
>Fiio E10
I need to upgrade but my money's been going to better things.
>>64596558
Fractal - Tunnels
>tfw using sennheiser hd650
feels good to have non-meme senns
>inb4 veil n shit
MSR7 all the way
(also own M50)
>>64596330
>Sennheiser HD201s
>KZ ATEs
>Beyerdynamic MXP100
That's about it senpai. I couldn't give a shit about headphones since I do most of my listening on the go and in the car. Right now I'm enjoying the KZ ATEs, they're surprisingly good for under $20.
>>64599138
If I'm feeling snob and want muh accuracy I also own a pair of K550's I use mostly for videogames, but sometimes I also listen to music on them
Feels like im wearing nothing at all, literally.
Everyone complains about these types of headphones leaking sound but it is supposedly for acoustic purposes, cant really say if it improves the sound or not. Main downside when I first got them was I had to constantly replace the 2.5mm male to 3.5mm female audio adapter until I eventually bought a 1.5mm/2.5mm cable.
>>64598498
>>64598526
In my experience, upgrading doesn't make anything sound better, it just makes everything else just sound worse.
>>64597269
Eh, I get apple earbud for like 50 cents. Their quality is jot that bad and I like the design.
>>64596330
Got the phillips eh? zreviews fan?
sony mdr-7506
thinking of upgrading to fostek t50rp mk3 but I use speakers way more so idk if it would be worth it
Currently have a set of Sony MDR-1A and have just ordered a pair of Hifiman HE 350's via Massdrop
>>64602697
Yup. They truely are the most comfy headphone.
>>64597873
Open-back does not always sound better than closed back. They sounds they produce are different but none are innately superior.
>>64597112
Not the anon you replied to but i want to get better headphones. I listen to a lot of post-punk, goth, and new wave.
>>64600948
sadly, this is very true
>>64596899
Sennheiser HD650 are great for that range if you were to buy an amp. M50s or HD598 are great as well if you don't want to go all out. 650s are kinda the next step up from those and are the reason I went full homo and bought Audeze LCD-2. (I am not an audiophile, I just wanted a really good setup...I don't want 30 pairs of headphones and $20k invested in this hobby)
>>64596330
>collecting headphones
I only have these now, for the comfy factor. I sold my AKGs to buy speakers with no regrets.
>>64599560
I've got the same ones. What kind of amp do you have?
>>64605420
>Memeheisers
>>64600948
Yep. For headphones, diminishing returns kick in massively after 300.00.
If you want to spend 1K, it's time to move up to speakers.
