>he doesn't recognize niggas on the moon as the pinnacle of their work

Why?
>>
because he's smart and realizes that it's second best and GP is their best
>>
Not sure if it's their pinnacle, but it's pretty fucking good.
>>
FACE DOWN, TRASH
>>
I do though. however I also recognize they need to stop making music
>>
It's the Yeezus of their discography; mediocrity that only the hardcore Stockholm syndrome-d fans truly care about.
>>

>It's the Yeezus of their discography
so their best album, i agree
>>
>>64591055
that would be Jenny Death, Government Plates, No Love Deep Web, Fashion Week, Interview 2016, and the second half of Ex Military. Death Grips has like 34 minutes of good material.

I see this mentioned a lot and I am curious why some anons have this opinion of GP being the beside. Care to share why you find it superior?

I wouldn't say NotM is the best but I hold it top 3 because it is their most multidirectional and abstract work (compositionally and lyrically) imo plus bjork adds a whole other dimension to the context of the album.

Niggas on the Moon is an autism test of sorts. If you like it more than any other releases (excluding Fashion Week and Interview) then you are at least slightly on the autism spectrum. I believe this in my soul. The only people who can get that much enjoyment out of a methed out maniac slamming on an electronic drum kit set to fucking Bjork vocals while MC Ride delivers his least catchy, fewest hooks bars ever, have to be somewhat autistic.
>>
>>64591127
GP and NOTM are both their most cohesive and consistent works
>>
Why arent we talking about the new album?
>>
Can someone actually give a reason why Government Plates is their best?
>>

this post is an autism test of sorts. If you're able to get all the way through it (including the picture), you have to be at least slightly on the autism spectrum.
>>
>>64591127

personally I think GP is excellent because of the manic nature of the album. There's something about it I can't explain. It just feels like you're in the mind of someone struggling with severe drug addiction in a mental asylum in some kind of solitary confinement and yet it sounds amazing. It really clicked with me when I was a senior in high school and it had just come out. I didn't dig it too much at first, but then I listened to it high while watching all the attached videos they made and it blew my mind. I don't really understand why I love GP. It sounds amazing for some reason even though it's not their most well thought out album.
(btw I'm not the guy you responded to)

>>64593166
GP is a literal 6/10 album that contrarians cling to. What happened to everyone liking NLDW the most?
>>
>>64591005

>>
>>64593292
You're so lousy I'd break up with you.
>>
>>64593166
well actually I'll make it brief I'm >>64593204

GP is amazing to me because of the paranoia it invokes. Walk your city streets at 2 am while high on meth or go out in the woods with a flashlight. The album is so perfect to me because I personally connect with it.

My interpretation of it is that it's a drug trip. You might think is the initial blast of the high. Then it starts to get more manic and insane. Then it starts to fade as you come down. Whatever I Want is the comedown, and in my opinion their most "sad" track.

There is a lot more to this album and it is left open for your own personal interpretation. Get in the right environment on the right drug and it might click. I could say more, but I'm on an Adderall comedown and I have not slept in 2 1/2 days. Good luck man, give it a few more listens. If drugs (especially amphetamines and downers) aren't your thing, I don't think you can appreciate it fully.

Its my second least favorite DG album just because its more tame in my opinion. Production feels almost too clean sometimes.

It's not that bad. The first half is some of their best and the second half has some good beats but is pretty boring and repetitive. If it was Government Plates EP with You Might Think, Anne Bonny, Two Heavens, Birds, and Whatever I Want it'd be a 9/10.
>>
>>64593209

The more I listen to their discography, the more I go back to NLDW. It took everything I loved about TMS and made it heavier. I feel like its by far their most concise and consistent release. They had a concept for it and executed perfectly.
>>
>>64594931
you know its funny when people say andy is in charge of production I think they all kinda dip into all parts of there work didn't hill come up with the I've seen footage bit.

GP has probably the best production of any Death Grips album. The songs on it feel more ambitious and daring than most Death Grips albums. It's also extremely cohesive and the songs flow together very we.

I don't think it's their best, though. Ride is a little underutilized and the songwriting isn't as quite as ambitious or as cohesive as NOTM.

>>64594772
It gets shit because it's the major label debut, and is easily Death Grips most accessible release besides Bottomless Pit. The band themselves said that The Money Store wasn't the direction they really wanted to go as a band, and that No Love Deep Web was closer to the sound they envisioned for themselves at the time.

The Money Store isn't bad, it's just kind of the starter album. It's the one you recommend to people who are interested in Death Grips but not familiar with their work. It's a good album full of excellent hooks but it also lacks the rawness and bold approach of other releases.

but no other album had matched it's production. the vocals and instrumentals intertwine. it all appears very skillful. their newer work has rides voice just over the beats where as tms had a flow up both ride and sounds playing with eachother

NotM is great for what it was. Still have no reason why they bundled it with JD. JD is like 7/10 at best. All I remember was skipping centuries of damn.

BP is a TMS 2.0. This album has lyrics straight fucked like NoTM but said in a way that flows better in a song. BP best album they have released. Everything else was an experiment. Esp NoTM. Great album though.
