Let me spell it out for you, kid. There's nothing metal about Cult of Luna. At best it's glorified heavy post-rock yet for some reason you children keep pushing them and all other atmosludge as "thinking man's metal", then act all butthurt when people call it out for the cancer that the genre really is. There is nothing redeemable about atmosludge, the genre as a whole exhibits zero originality and shits on its roots to appeal to a broader audience, one that likes to congratulate itself on how "intelligent" and "refined" it is. Their riffs are unimaginative, their songwriting is bland and predictable, the composition is lacks any sort of creativity and any semblance of heaviness is watered down with half-backed ambience that adds nothing of value to the music. The saddest part is that there is absolutely no atmosludge band that doesn't suffer fro many of these problems because they're all to busy ripping each other off. There's a reason atmosludge is universally reviled by the metal community. Now take your garbage and leave.

i've never been a fan of atmosludge (and honestly i don't even really know what that is) but atmoblack can be really good. half of the reason why black metal is considered to be so extreme is because of the minimalistic composition. there's a reason why the OGs hated moshing. having a repetitive blast beat accompanied by a simple tremolo ostinato and shrieking vocals is like the traditional bm formula. if you want complexity then you should listen to other styles of metal.

But this comparison makes no sense because Summoning is so far from atmoshit. Riffs, whether from guitars or other instruments, do a good job of the whole narrative flow through riffs thing metal is so good at. Atmoshit doesn't do that with riffs. Even conceptually they are closer to how Burzum goes after the themes surrounding Tolkien rather than "so epic bruh" that one would expect of another symphonic/power metal band that hits Tolkien.
