Reminder that techno, house and breaks each are as varied, expansive and different in their respective 30 years history as hlp hop, metal or bop.
okay
what's your point music as a whole is probably the most varied art form

You wish. The fact is, this Beatles album has more variety in 35 minutes than all 35-so years of EDM.

*tips fedor, etc.
>>64575958
ahahaha
>>64575921
Collectively, yeah. But no, alone those genres cannot possibly be as varied because as soon as they get creative, they are pigeon-holed into another genre or sub-genre. As much as I love electronic music, its fans elitism means that the best way of avoiding arguments is to just call something ground-breaking by a new genre.

So a genre has subgenres, thats generally genres work when they get bigger and become more varied yeah.
>>64575921
>techno, house and breaks
>varied, expansive and different
This has to be bait.
You can't really compare EDM to conventional music. They're different.

>>64575921
I'm not sure.
Metal has a good dozen main subgenres, and those each divide into other subgenres.
All in all there's about two hundred subgenres of Metal (including those that are only played by two or three bands) so I don't think that techno, house and breakbeat can compete.
>>64580462
190 of them all sound the same.
