Tony iommi. Got me listening to django hella long ago

>not listening to superior mississipi john hurt

Not surprised. Django is basically required listening for any guitarist, especially lead guitarists. A lot of electric players listen to him a lot because his two-finger diagonal arpeggio-heavy style translates very well to electric guitar, whereas the styles of other required listening guys like Doc Watson or >>64569750 Mississippi John Hurt don't.

Though an interesting acoustic and electric guitarist who was hugely influential in both worlds was Clarence White, a long time bluegrass player who played telecaster with The Byrds and played some of the sickest solos ever. Sadly, apart from bluegrass folks, diehard Byrds fans, and serious guitarists, very few people have heard of him, partly due to his tragic death pushing his brother out of the way of a drunk driver. Incidentally, his brother Roland White is a bluegrass patriarch these days.

Have a listen to Clarence: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMQuuZNvwLU

P.S. yes mississippi john hurt is fantastic, but why even compare him to Django. They did two completely different things in two completely different musical contexts.

sonny sharrock shouldn't even be in the same sentence as those guys

They're the go-to jazz guitar artists for plebs I've noticed.
>>
>>64569967
Which isn't to say they're bad. Davis, Mingus and Coltrane are great, obviously, but that doesn't stop them for being the go-to jazz artist for plebs either.

It's cool. Mississippi John Hurt was a badass. Couldn't fault anyone for liking him. If you want to expand your old blues taste, I recommend starting with Skip James and seeing where he takes you. One of the most haunting vocalists of all time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNftrsCMiQs

you'll faggots don't even listen to stephane grappelli
>>
Did Django smoke crack?
>>
>>64570019
I don't really like the vocals in blues that much to be honest. I like guitar sounds, like stevie ray vaughn. If you could recommend anyone who doesn't sing that would be cool. I like some Jeff Beck.

Was he in Bioshock? I played that game a long time ago and I don't remember him being in it.

There are some great old instrumental blues songs, but unfortunately for you, blues is a style that is really based around the singing. The singing is the heart and soul of the music, and things like bottleneck slides and string-bending were invented to imitate the ornamentation possible with the human voice. You can't really separate the blues tradition from the blues vocal tradition, not even for relatively new-school guys like Stevie Ray Vaughan, so blues instrumentals are in a big minority of songs, usually put alongside lots of tracks that feature singing. In other words, you have to dig to find the instrumentals.

That said, one of my favorite blues guitarists is Albert King, who did quite a few instrumentals: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCbQ6e5Yi04

and he also played a ridiculously good concert with SRV. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZB57b3lPQE

that's cool, thanks man. It's hard for me to find guitar oriented instrumental music I like that isn't classical or spanish sounding. I always like the intros or interlude songs the most.
>>
>>64570237
his instrumental cover of beyond the sea (or La Mer) plays in the beginning part when you enter the lighthouse

>>64570031
nope but his hobby was shooting rats at garbage dumps
>>
>>64570435
and if you like that, listen to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPp7TyrqhMY and the entire I've Got the House to Myself album by David Grier. All jus guitar instrumentals. Or you could give this a try https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yGSSKRv1iA if you like the style and don't mind other instruments.
>>
>>64570435
that's awesome.

i just remembered my stepdad listens to an assload of bluegrass and plays guitar religiously so that's probably why i'm trying to hear instrumental music.
