That being said, the M50x's are great. I've had a pair for awhile now, no regrets.
Now a days I generally use some open back headphones but when I travel I bring the M50s along and they're quite nice.

That's a ridiculous statement. M50s are a great middle of the road headphone. They don't offend in any way.
There's good reason they're frequently recommended as the goto starter pair if you're going into buying higher quality studio headphones.
