JennyPlates 2, Niggas on the Store
Until LP9 comes out
>>64556229
I was so positively surprised by this. I'd never heard anything by Xiu Xiu before this, but those are some great reimaginings of the classic themes.
one of her weakest albums tbqh
but it's the first 2016 album i've heard that i can decisively say i enjoyed all the way through
considering we're 5 months in and i've only got one album i can say that about, really bad year so far
DEAK
>>64556251
>>64556243
It was pretty underwhelming and forgettable
David Bowie - Blackstar
Kendrick Lamar - Untitled Unmastered
Death Grips - Bottomless Pit
Deakin - Sleep Cycle
Weezer - Weezer (White Album)
Xiu Xiu - Music of Twin Peaks
>>64556291
lol no
h-h-hey guys ... r-remember me?
guys...?
>>64556300
Need to give this another listen today. It seemed a bit pretentious overall but that second track was a killer.
>>64556285
I'm so fucking sick of Sacred Bones album art. It's just a fucking gimmick and it's played out.
This massive clusterfuck, hands-down. Until the new Kayo Dot... and new Paul Dolden maybe this Fall.
>>64556328
>lol no
nice argument kid, im sure your highschool buddies will agree
The Drones - Feelin Kinda Free
>>64556229
Mega link?
>>64556361
The second track is fucking bonkers
>>64556305
straight from fantano's personal diary, nice
>>64556403
It takes 10 seconds to search the archive faggot

>>64556339
not at all, but thanks for reminding me
>>64556436
You think I didn't try that, nigger?
>>64556371
completely agree with you, but i let them off because they've released a lot of records that i love
>>64556251
/mu/ in a nutshell. First one isn't officially out yet but he heard some leaks and it's his second best to the one he didn't even hear. Keep riding their dicks, 90% of their fans come from this board.
Haven't been this impressed with an indie rock record for years.
>>64556473
>mega.co
>>64556473
why over-complicate things, shitlord?
>>64556540
Because that's how you get straight to the download links and filter out posts from faggots like me asking for the link? Do you even search engine, retard?
>tfw despite all efforts the new radiohead album will be aoty
>>64556561
>calling other people a retard when you're that retarded.
>>64556601
>calling other people a retard when you're that retarded.
can't really pick one, the ones I've listened to most/liked
pic related, Pop. 1280 - Paradise
Hammock - Everything and Nothing
Postiljonen - Reverie (really nice dream pop album)
Pinkshinyultrablast - Grandfeathered
Woods - City Sun Eater in the River of Light
Autolux - PUSSY'S DEAD
A Dead Forest Index - In All That Drifts from Summit Down
Mogwai - Atomic
>>64556339
Of course. Good House SOTY
I can't believe people actually liked the new Weezer album
HHAOTY for sure at least. My favorite of 2016 by far
>>64556786
only white nu-male's like weezer
>>64556339
>>64556554
>>64556762
Probably one of these three.
>>64556786
I'm thoroughly confused by the praise for it. I'm a Weezer fan, and I was really underwhelmed. It's not bad, but it's completely forgettable. EWBAITE wasn't consistently great, but it was a step in the right direction. This, however, feels like a less memorable version of the green album.
>>64556827
Well fuck me I was going to post this but got the duplicate file error, nice timing
Really liked TIK, overall better than Skelethon imo
also liked Anna Meredith - Varmints and the Massive Attack EP if that counts, havent listened to much good music this year yet
>>64556921
Impossible Kid was definitely much more succinct than Skelethon. Basically a more refined album with just as good flow / lyrics and production that felt consistent. Easily strong 9 to a light 10 for me.
>>64556827
What kind of rap is this? I'm already half turned off by this atrocious cover.
>>64556985
Fedoracore
>>64556209
Car Seath Headrest - Teens of Style
Death Grips - Bottomless Pit
Weezer's white album
M83 - Junk
>>64556985
bored white person who reads dictionaries for fun-core
>>64556382
> It was pretty underwhelming and forgettable
nice argument kid, im sure your highschool buddies will agree
>>64556985
It's alt-rap at it's core I guess but Aesop has a very specific / unique style. The full album is available to stream on youtube, check it out. If you don't like the more modern sound his older stuff like Labor Days is great too
>>64557052
>>64557065
thanks for the honesty. now im fully turned off and won't waste my time. Is this similar: >>64557028 ?
>>64557065
Wait, so you like a poor vocabulary or something? Huh....
>>64557063
why does everyone like the death grips? All of their old stuff is just a guy mumbling over spastic samples. There is never a rhythm or good lyrics. What is the song that is making everyone like them? Ive only heard the ones that dont sound like music, apparently...
>>64557065
>>64557052
Lol I guess some Drake fans are a little salty that he dropped a shit tape and got BTFO while other rappers are still going strong.
>>64557101
Why don't you form your own opinion because Aesop is widely regarded as one of the best and most influential rappers in the alt-rap movement
>>64557101
Its art rap fo sho. Check the song Check to Check. If you dont like that, you probably wont like the rest of the album
>>64557150
Because I've listened to too many shit that fits their description over the years and I want to prevent wasting my time. The term "alt-rap" makes me cringe
>>64557182
>>64557196
will give this a try though
>>64557196
It's a blanket term. It doesn't mean much of anything other than that it's not gangsta rap, boom-bap, or any specific sound that someone might be looking for. What else are you going to call it? Like any other genre there's good music and shitty music
>>64557218
OME's album "Dark Comedy" is far more accessible. If you dont care to abide by the 2016 rule of this thread, that might be a better place to start
>>64557142
I was being serious, btw. I dont mean to troll, it is just frustrating I guess because I dont understand the Death Grips at all.
>>64556209
>>64557142
>the death grips
>>64557142
I started liking them after listening to Jenny Death (best tracks: On GP, Centuries of Damn and Inanimate Sensation) and, to be honest, I don't really know why, it's like something just clicked.
I like their music now because it's raw and primal, listening to them is almost the equivalent of getting back at your ex for all the shit she's done, it just unloads you emotionally, but as I said, I can't say why I started liking them, I just did.
>>64556413
Yeah, but what's up with the 3rd track???
>>64557414
Fair enough... Ill check out these songs. I tend to observe what is wrong with a song before the inverse. It is fairly rare for me to hear a song and have it just "click" but, of course, it does happen. I just recently gave Incubus' "SCIENCE" a listen and I got a case of the clicks
>>64556251
This. Although I haven't heard that many albums that have come out this year because it's been a relatively shit year so far.
>>64556251
THISSS
This is up there.
>>64556421
THIS
>>64556424
For me it is
Atlanter vs bowie vs the drones vs big ups
pretty damn good year for me. Exactly my kind of music. 2016 is already better than 2015
>>64557739
>2016 is already better than 2015
2016 has already taken a giant shit on the train wreck that was 2015. If this year stopped right now, it'd still blow last year out of the water.
words cant describe how underrated this is
This and the new Marissa Nadler are my faves so far.
This is the only album from this year I've been returning to. Not even that good of an album but a few really great songs.
>>64558589
This was underwhelming to me :/
Blackstar is my overall AOTYSF, Warlord my HH, with Impossible Kid right behind it, probably gonna overtake it the more I listen to it.
Biggest disappointment has been Weezer DYWGH is such a great track surrounded by mediocre shit. Jacked Up might be the worst weezer song of the 2010's.
>>64556291
lol no
>>64556300
ehh, this was alright. a little too ambient for my tastes, but the second track is probably the best thing gero has done.
>>64558699
yeah and not even good ambient
>>64556229
literally baby's first xiu xiu
>>64556251
This
>>64556339
also this
>>64558725
wtf, what does that has to do with anything? this is a 2016 music thread and that is another good covers album by them
>>64558610
I was a fan of the fuzzier, more relaxed style. I felt like they were really paying attention to the textures instead of falling back on aggression
>>64557468
>got a case of the clicks
kek
>>64556339
Yes and it's still holding up
>>64556339
aotysf
>>64557414
>listening to them is almost the equivalent of getting back at your ex for all the shit she's done
Holy shit that's definitely the cringiest thing I've heard all year.
>>64556827
Just gave this a listen. Most underwhelming shit I've ever heard from him
>>64558664
kys
>>64556827
I loved this
>>64557396
More like The Life Kicks amirite friendo :^)
>>64556421
I am satisfied to not have to put this down myself
>>64558395
nice taste friendo
any other recs? this year or otherwise?
>>64556298
Best hip hop album of the year. Although it's been a pretty weak year so far.
>>64558664
Did you really like this album? It's honestly one of the worst I've ever heard, and I enjoyed both Unknown Death and Unknown Memory.
>>64562792
How can you beat an album that never ends
>>64556827
This and Untitled are pretty great. Listened to TLOP for the first time in about a month and the highs are still really high, but those lyrical lows hold it back.
>>64561128
honestly the worst opinion I have ever seen
Really clicking for me, more than FiS did
