There are two on rutracker, but one of them appears to be broken (skips through scenes when playing on VLC) and the other is a charming animated adaptation done by the BBC, but is sung in English and slightly abridged, so not what I'm looking for.

interested in diving into some of this music, but where do I start? Feeling a bit overwhelmed with all of this stuff. Thanks.
>>
>>64553664
>>64553664
Well, I started with the three big composers - Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven and went from there. Seriously, just listen to the popular stuff first like Beethoven's Moonlight sonata, Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, or Bach's 5th Brandenburg Concerto. Branch out from there. I'd suggest staying away from symphonies for a little bit unless they're really well know like Beethoven's 9th. Hope this helps.

About pieces?
For Brahms, do pic related plus Cello Sonata in E minor, Piano Trio No. 3, All his three sonatas, Variations on a theme of Händel and his Rhapsody in G minor.
For Liszt, his Années de Pèlerinage his Sonata in B minor, Piano Concertos, Totentanz, his Hungarian Rhapsodies and his Ètudes.

Very closely followed by C minor

What do I do guys? I want to ask you about great composers/musicians but I am so numb to it all. I remember learning about the typical people when I was younger, than over the years I started to dig deeper and learned the typical people had all kinds of music you don't hear about, and now I hear something new everyday it seems like. Just when I think I've heard it all there's always something else. But even from what I HAVE heard it just makes me so, discouraged I guess. It's like what's the point? Everything has already been done, I just can't seem to like anything anymore.

Haydn sure has many works. to get started on him I've made a small list. including his London and Paris symphonies and his oratorios The Creation and The Seasons.

These are the conductors or recordings i have chosen.

London Symphonies:
Colin Davis and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra

Paris Symphonies as well as 26, 52, 53:
Sigiswald Kuijken

The Creation:
Karajan

The Seasons:
Karl Böhm

Redpill me on operas /mu/
I can't stand operatic singing; hate how the voice dominates over other instruments; even drowning them out
What's the point of listening to a recording of an opera anyway? It's like eating pizza without cheese or getting jerked off with a glove
>>
>>64573708
opera =/= music
>>
>>64573708
Ideally the voice should be in harmony with the music. It should all work as one. If this isn't happening then the underlying harmony must not be as important as the singer's. Really the voice is just another instrument. It's like getting mad at all cellos or drums if they stick out over the other instruments in a particular recording.

What are some more extremely intense vocal performances like the Schoenberg quartet performances?

Beethoven yes, Mozart no.
The only reason that the 18th century equivalent of a cat playing a piano is still listened to is the fact he died young and byronically. Listen to mature music like Wagner, Bach and Ludwig van.
