Having less than 10 isn't being a pleb, it's showing good taste.
Which you lack according to your taste.
>>64540680
>>64540747
Stetson's cover of Gorecki is by far the worst thing I've heard this entire year, ya'll are pathetic.
>>64540942
what do you hate so much about the Stetson cover? I like it a lot too.
>>64540897
pfffff hahaha
>>64540942
that doesn't make any sense...if you've listened to 10 albums, you automatically have a top 10. has nothing to do with taste, it's how many albums you've listened to
you seem smart
>>64540935
daughter was just ok
>>64540942
this guy seems sad. nice ONE album you contributed.
That Deakin album was such a great surprise, so yes, as of now, Sleep Cycle.
The only possible candidate to knock it down will be is Radiohead's next is any good...
King of Limbs was so terrible, and both AMOK and TMB were hit-or-miss, so Deak may still reign supreme. Which, to be honest, is kind of uplifting.
God, Sleep Cycle is good.
>>64540972
>that doesn't make any sense...if you've listened to 10 albums, you automatically have a top 10.
yeah albums you hate go on your AOTY list
genius motherfucking logic
you idiot
>>64540970
He changes nothing about the music, it's just a shitty rock band cover that obscures the canonic development of much of the music. The rock drums especially destroy the original intention.
If it was an interpretive response album, a la Johnny Greenwood's Responses to Polymorphia, it would have been good I bet.
Leon Vynehall - Rojus
The Orb - Alpine
Animal Collective - Painting With
Matmos - Ultimate Care II
Andy Stott - Too Many Voices
The Field - The Follower
Biosphere - The Hilvarenbeek Recordings
Underworld - Barbara Barbara, We Face a Shining Future

>nice ONE album you contributed.
Also liked Eno's The Ship, Avishai Cohen's "Into the Silence", and Waclaw Zimpel's "Lines."
>>64540999
>King of Limbs was so terrible
What's with all you fucking redditors?
>>64541009
I wouldn't say he changes nothing. I mean I guess it is kept relatively intact but I like how much noisier it is, he turns it into something that sounds closer to Swans or Godspeed You!. At least the first movement anyway. I can see why keeping it similar would turn some people off though.
Deakin- Sleep Cycle
Death Grips- Bottomless Pit
Car Seat Headrest- Teens of Denial
the three albums i really liked from this year so far.
>>64540942
thank god I have no idea who Gorecki is then
1-10. Droids Attack - Sci-Fi or Die
>>64540610
the only great album i've heard this year was arca's mutant
>>64541042
>I wouldn't say he changes nothing
The length is the exact same, he kept the same score just shitted it up with poor orchestration.
It's just lazy garbage, man. There's no argument here.
>>64541066
Thank God that you're a clueless pleb? I fucking hate /mu/ now.

>>64540897

I'm a sucker for smooth throwback jamrock. I'm a huge Allman Brothers fan.
Deakin is an EP you fucking faggots
>>64541338
>I'm a huge Allman Brothers fan.
ok interesting, I'm almost completely unfamiliar with them so maybe that hindered my appreciation. I'll definitely give it another chance since I blind bought it for $10. I remember I felt they started picking up some slack but it was really rough going at first.

parquet courts is almost universally on people's lists because it's a ridiculously good album grow up.
TLOP is average at best for the record
Any tips on getting into Deak's album? I love Golden Chords but the rest of it hasn't really hit met yet like most of anco's shit. Maybe I'm focusing on the wrong thing?
>>64541918
lol trying way too hard
>>64542304
it was the best AnCo album for me aside from Spirit They've Gone but I'm not sure how to explain to someone how to get into it
>>64542280
>it's popular on /mu/ it's good!
that and "grow up" is your argument? kek
>>64542315

I can't think of 10 so here's my EPOTY:
>Charli XCX- Vroom Vroom
>>64542304
Golden Chords was initially my favorite, but now I love the whole thing. I think it being so short allowed me to listen to the album as a whole pretty often and that really helped me get into it. It's like it's a peaceful buildup and slowly gets more bouncy or aggressive in Just Am, and then Footy is a climax, and then it fades down and finishing with Good House gets back to feeling I felt in the Golden Chords, just with more vocals.
>>64542304
honestly this >>64542648
I also am not a fan of 90% of AnCo's material but Sleep Cycle is definitely one of my favorites give it a few more listens
>>64542643
>I can't think of 10 so here's my EPOTY:

I like TTB but I didn't like this album at all. Pretty disappointing considering Revelator was good. (especially midnight in harlem)
>>64540935
>1. dream theater - astonishing
What is the appeal with dream theater? I don't get it. I thought it was really cringey especially that trailer. I like Malibu though. Great album.
>>64541570
Nice list. Need to listen to that Tim Hecker already. I hear mixed opinions of it though.
>>64541782

>What is the appeal with dream theater? I don't get it. I thought it was really cringey especially that trailer
I bashed the trailer too when it came out. trust me I'm just as surprised as anyone. offhand, 1. its dynamic ranging up to crazy bungle style stuff 2. pretty damn solid for a whopping two hours. This fucking beast packs more into 1/4 than most do on a whole album. I even listened to it again today with the sole intention of being super critical and it just ended up kicking my ass all over again.
>>64543265
In that case I might give it a chance. 2 Hours though.... I don't know if I can handle that much dream theater.
>>64543161
I was actually really impressed with the new King Giazzard. Fuck people who just call is revival music.
>>64543161
>(7.7)Andy Stott- Guided By Voices

Me too. It takes the fun eclectic nuttiness of paper mache and collides it with the wonky funhouse guitar melodies and garage riffs really well. And the vocals have much improved too.
