I love rock, but I've grown tired of the same old stuff and the basic radio rock, prog rock fills that hole.

Anything Steven Wilson. Check out his collaboration with Mikael Ã…kerfeldt of Opeth, "Storm Corrosion"
>>
>>64532861
I enjoy it man.
>>
>>64532861
I think it would be better if he used more guitars rather than strings and pianos but good regardless.
>>
Any prog that's actually progressive recently? Maybe I am not looking in the right places, but a lot of it feels like retreads on the songwriting style of what the guys back then did rather than being actually progressive or taking into account the context of the songwriting itself.

>>
>>64533356

>>
>>64533298
I'm checking it out in a minute, never heard them before
>>
>>64533404

Avant and progressive both very much mean boundary pushing and innovative.
>>
>>64533700

80s - Discipline
90s - Signify
00s - Frances the Mute
10s - Raven

I'm fully aware these are the most generic answers possible

>>64535078
It's more atmoprog really. Doesn't bear that much of a resemblance to Radiohead besides the vocals and general melancholy. I certainly would not put them in the same category as Porcupine Tree, Oceansize, Amplifier etc.
>>
>>64535078
they haven't done anything alt-rock since firebird though
>>
>>64535118
