What's the deal with k-pop? Is the only reason people enjoy it because of the cute Asian girls or boys ? Why are there so many threads on it all the time with so many posts ? There's obviously something appealing about it so if someone wouldn't mind explaining I'd be very pleased.

The "cute girls and boys" is, for the most part, just a front. There are those types, but the majority of at least the longtime fans actually sincerely appreciate the music. The actual thread content would make you believe otherwise, but it's not like most of this imageboard hasn't been ruined by memes and shitposting.
Kpop is more than just songs, the entire industry is very fun to be a fan of. The market is very quick paced with groups and soloists releasing new music almost 3 times a year. The whole nature of it just makes it fun to be a part of honestly. 6/7 days a week there is a television program that airs live that shows these groups and soloists performing their new songs. This means these idols are performing close to 20 times a week counting festivals and other events. They are always in the public eye and it makes it easy to follow them as fans.
I could go on and on but I won't. The music for most of us is the topping on the cake. If this thread is about the "thread content" then once again i'll say, have you looked around 4chan lately?

i wouldn't take /mu/'s kpg as an accurate representation of why people like kpop. i love my kpop and i only got to kpg to see photos of my favorite idols.
Theres a few reasons why I listen to kpop. First, all the videos have high production and are usually pretty creative. Sometimes they have really shitty storylines but thats whatever. Secondly, every group has a dance routine that goes with their songs which adds to the overall appeal. Thirdly, (probs should've put this one first) the music is pretty good. I like pop music that sounds good and kpop puts out some bangers. Another reason would be how structured it is. This puts a lot of people off, but kpop is like a machine where groups are manufactured and groomed to appeal to the public. There are different companies who come out with new groups with new members and it becomes like a sports team in a way. I have a few groups I really like/support and a few groups I really dislike. They'll literally go on these music shows where they'll perform their song and then get a scored based on sales/online votes (it changes depending on which show they're on) and are declared winners. Then these groups go on these variety shows and try to appeal to the public (some more successful at that than others) and before you know it these kpop groups are your music, your team, and your tv.
