>>
>>64499090
If you're using a nylon string guitar, then you could try to mimic a micro-tonal sound, by bending in 1/4 tone increments.
You'd have to listen to a lot of microtonal Indian music from sitar players.
That would make it reasonably convincing.

probably because agile fretwork blows guitars in their price range out of the water. It's telling that the only way people can come up with LPs that compete with agile is by saying "used and without any problems or fret wear." Comparing new to new or used to used, You simply cannot get a better guitar than an agile without paying more, and generally with diminishing returns.

>>
>>64501341

What exactly are you referring to?

Thats a Floyd Rose locking nut. The strings are clamped down to prevent them from going out of tune. There is no buzzing. You could clip the strings behind the nut or even saw the headstock off and the guitar would still be playable and hold tune.

The little bar behind the nut is a retainer. It's there to apply downward pressure to the strings so they don't go out of tune when you clamp the nut down.
>>
>>64501564
sounds like you guitar is gathering a static charge. You need to replace the wiring with fresh wires.
>>

I'm going to stop replying to you, I've indulged your trolling for too long already.
>>
>>64501603
Best answer.
>>
>>64501470
The guitar you posted had tiny frets that without a doubt would need replacing after a few years. As opposed to an agile, with frets large enough to be polished and leveled many more times before needing a refret. In other words it's not a mindless clone of all Gibson's defects.
>>
>>64501755
>Medium jumbo frets are a flaw now

What madness is this
>>
>>64501603
the retainer doesn't do that, it just keeps the strings lined up to the nut properly.

>>
>>64501603
I was talking about the retainer. I didn't think a Floyd Rose needed all that stuff to stay in tune.

I brought up buzzing because I thought the retainer was like a mute for the guitar.
>>
>>64501827

The retainer doesn't keep anything in line, there are no slots. It's just a bar that is screwed down to pull the strings down. If it isn't there then the strings are at different heights in the slots and when you clamp down the higher strings get pulled sharp.

Not lying about the price of your guitar is not helping the old man. You asked if you're a pos by knowingly lying to someone who definitely does not need extra bullshit in his life and the simple answer to that is yes. You're a piece of shit. Whether or not that bothers you is not up to us, the objective fact is just that you're a piece of shit and arguing that it's not your fault that an old man respects and trusts you enough to believe that you won't lie straight to his face does not make you any less of a piece of shit.

But who cares really, it's 30 bucks. Everyone's been a piece of shit at one or more points in their lives. Don't let that bother you. Just know that everything you did was wrong no matter how you look at it.

You say it's worth $50, you sell it for $80. It's called flipping which is a legitimate way of making money. It being a legitimate way of making money does not change that fact that you're knowingly lying about the value of what you're selling just because whoever it is you're selling it too doesn't know the actual worth of the item.

>If you haven't learned by the age of 30 that you should never do that then you're just naive.

Justifying your actions on the actions of others and knowingly lying to someone because you haven't put any thought into your actions and then asking others if you should feel bad for doing it is a textbook case of mindless retardism. You ask if you're a piece of shit for knowingly doing something other piece of shits do. Yes, that does indeed make you a piece of shit.

Maybe if you feel like you should feel bad about it, you should have put in a little extra thought into your actions and been the bigger and better man and not lie to a crippled old man just because he happens to trust strangers?

Guess how much a guitar is "worth" or any of the pedals you own, people make profit by selling things, how is that a new thing? Why are you not protesting in front of your GC, groceries store and drug store? I provided a product and someone bought it at a certain price, there was barely any talking or discussion going on, he could have asked for a lower price or not contacted me if he wasn't okay with it, apparently that guitar was worth that much to him, that's his decision. And again, it's not a lie. I never claimed that the guitar was WORTH 80 bucks, that was merely the price I had it listed at.

>I never claimed that the guitar was WORTH 80 bucks, that was merely the price I had it listed at.

Ah okay, it's still lying about the price. You're not running a business. You just sold a used guitar and decided to try your luck on marking it up knowing that it was not worth that much and it worked. Then you feel bad and ask us if you're an ass, yes you are. Anyone who lies for no other purpose but their own gain at the expense of others is an ass no matter how legitimate the practice of flipping used items is. You trying to justify lying to someone by bringing up the point that others do it too is entirely irrelevant.

Stores for the record are very open about the fact that they markup their prices and big stores like GC are even open with the fact that the reason they can afford marking things up less than others is because they're so filthy rich that they can buy large bulks for less and have so many stores around that they don't have to worry about the items not selling.
You're not being open with this. Your situation does not compare to what stores around the country does. You're selling a used item on a place purposed for allowing people to buy used items for cheap. You're not marking yourself as a business with the implication being that you're marking up items but still selling them cheap. You're just lying about the price of your item because you wanted to make a quick buck. You're definitely still lying.

>apparently that guitar was worth that much to him

Or he just couldn't find any other guitar that he liked for cheaper because someone decided to mark his guitar up 30 bucks higher than its worth so he decided 30 bucks is an expense worth saving the time he'd otherwise spend on getting a better deal. It does not change the fact that you were knowingly lying about its actual worth.

>he could have asked for a lower price

Some people aren't comfortable haggling, that's just a thing. That fact does not change lies to truths.

Been thinking of going DIY and building myself a guitar.
Probably gonna go with a telecaster or a Les Paul oak body, because they're pretty easy to cut and I've got oak scraps lying around.
For pickups I'll either go with 2 single coils or drop one of them and get a hambucker instead.
I won't be doing the neck myself, because a friend of mine has one off of his old guitar (I think it was a pine one) and I haven't thought about the electronics yet.

Is there anything else I should consider and how should I go about doing this /mu/? As I said, this is my first build so any tips would be appreciated. :)

>>
Anybody played these things?
I've tried Martins, Taylors, Gibsons, Epiphones, Guilds and they all feel cheap. The only acoustics I've really felt comfortable with are the Gretsch ones, because they don't feel like your standard acoustic neck at all. My only real complaint are the fucking triangles. Is the Jim Dandy quality as fuck?
>>
>>64507134
i played one at a store for a minute and kinda liked it. the action on it was kinda high, but that's probably fixable. also, it sounded very sharp. Its worth keeping in mind that it's a parlor, so it's not gonna have the bass register that a dreadnought would have, clearly. that being said, I liked what i heard, it has a crisp sound, with good attack. good price, too. just go to a store and play one, unless you live out in the sticks.
>>
>>64506898
I just used a bag. Tale it as carry on and ask the flight attendant if you can put it behind a seat. If you want to stow it I'd worry about the case but otherwise it should be okay. That said if you're worried about some bumps and scratches, it's probably worth putting it in a good case.
>>
>>64507027
don't use oak, unless you want to get into weight relief. If you're willing to do a top then you could do an oak top on a basswood body or something. I'm guessing you're planning an unbound body with a natural finish, so that should work out well.

It's better if you think about this like making a body than making a guitar.
>>
>>64497801

>>
>>64507530
no I take it back, a compressor is better
>>
>>64507348
I think doing a neck would be a bit out off my skill level, but aside that, what other woods should I consider for the body then? I've also got some maple, but I don't think I'll have enough for the body, so I'll have to buy wood either way.

Also, yeah, unbound natural, with just a bit of light staining.
>>
>>64507493
compressor, but make sure you get one that has the ability to act only as a limiter. For recordings often times this will make your life much easier. A limiter colors the tone much less than a compressor so it's better for cleaning up your playing without changing the attack.
>>
>>64507803
Alder is probably the cheapest and best option overall, but when you're talking about nat finishes it's mostly up to preference. that's why doing a top is pretty smart. Doing a top isn't terribly difficult, but it means you have to buy two pieces of wood. I dunno, oak is hard to work with and too heavy, but if you're only gonna do this once might as well get something you're really happy with. Best if you can work off an example.
>>
>>64507525
>>64507530

I anchor my thumb on a pickup or guard and mute with my ring and pinkie if I'm only playing with two fingers, so the Patitucci style. If I'm doing gallops or really fast playing with three fingers I'll anchor on the E (or B on a 5 string).

You mean you literally don't understand how the pedals work? They modulate your signal and you mix that with your dry signal to taste. Chorus is time based, phaser and flanger are different degrees of messing with the phase, etc. Most of the pedals are to emulate what guys were doing with sound by physically manipulating the tape in
the studio, or to emulate a Leslie spkr etc.

>>64512672
