Grot is almost no wave, anyways, yes she doesnt really do noise rock, but i feel her best songs are always the closest to noise rock, or at least the hardest sounding, your lips are red, marrow, northern lights (dat noise section, god) and i wish she went explored noise rock and no wave a bit more but yes, she mainly does art pop/rock and chamber pop and looks like she will keep doing that, which is fine still

I've never got the love for Grot/Krokodil. Her experimentation with noise always feels so tacked on and forced like she put it there to get some "indie cred". Grot in particular feels like something a bunch of teenagers would write after listening to 1 Swans track. Actor and Marry Me come of as much more genuine.

I heard she didn't even write one of the songs, though I don't know which one. And she's always had noise/heavy distortion influence in her music. Even in 2007 or so if you find some live videos, Your Lips Are Red is completely different from the album version and has heavy distortion and some other songs include it as well. I don't think it's not genuine, but I'm not sure how comfortable she feels about actually recording music like that. It doesn't help that her influences are all over the place so she has to really pick and choose what she does in her music to keep it consistent.

yeah, I'd say she's strongly influenced by noise rock but doesn't fully take on the genre. Based on her live shows, though, I'd say she's most at home artistically with that sound (see the live version of My Lips Are Red). I wouldn't be surprised if her next album was her harshest yet.
