Post your vinyl set-up.
Just got this set-up for the Xiu Xiu vinyl I picked up for RSD:
>Crosley Cruiser ii
>Logitech Z323 Speaker System
Literally amazing. I'm picking up details I've never heard before and the sound is so warm.

Ur memes hurt me
What's a decent receiver that doesn't cost too much? My entire setup is decent except for the receiver, which I got from Value Village for ten dollars. I'm a poorfriend but have some money.
BIN THAT FUCKING CROSLEY.

What's wrong with stacking?
>>64495905
That's a comfy looking setup my good man
>>64495978
Stuff won't ventilate properly. You'll notice a lot of receivers and stuff have their vents through the top or sides. When you stack it reduces it and it can be part for the internals. This is why when you normally see stereo racks that their is space on the sides and top for each device.
Sometimes stacking is hard to avoid. Like I have my stuff stacked, but I have no where else I can put stuff with my current setup.
My setup
>>64495978
The equipment can overheat because of poor ventilation. It's not a huge problem; I stack myself.
any vinylfags know any decent turntables that cost around $100? I don't want to be a crosleyfag;)
>>64496184
Check out your local pawnshop fag
>>64496184
You're going to have to go second-hand shopping, and even then $100 is a stretch.
That's also only the price of the turntable. For the amp, the pre-amp and speakers, you're looking at around $300-400 if you're shopping second-hand.
I wouldn't start shopping for a hi-fi set-up until you have at least $500 spare. Any less and you may as well just buy CDs.
Remember that vinyl is only as good as FLAC. Only make the investment if you're an autist who needs large, physical copies of your music.

my humble table
>>64494596 here
I have:
>AT-1600 Pro-Linear turntable (a local brand from the early '70s -- it's old and the brand went out of business years ago but it's high quality)
>Panasonic bookshelf speakers
>Sony Micro Hi-Fi Component System CMT-RB5
>Pyle pre-amplifier
All I really need to replace is the receiver and I'll have a really decent setup going.

What is the gear here?
>tfw pc, home cinema and record player all part of the same system
>tfw listening to Music for Airports and watching the waveform in rocking chair for maximum comfiness
I pity whoever hasn't felt this.

No, Crosleys are well beyond shit and OP is baiting himself into another dimension.
old pic, but it hasnt really changed much
same stuff speakers are jbl-lrs350
I just got a crosley. It was a gift. I don't think it's that bad but I've never been the one to bitch about sound quality. Is it actually that bad? What's a good simple player that isn't crazy expensive and has a decent quality?
>>64498463
>all those consoles
Holy shit
>>64498683
It's not just about quality, it's about not fucking up your records. If a record has ever been played on a turntable without a proper counterweight (crossleys, plastic automatics, all-in-ones etc.) then you flatten and damage the inside of the grooves and there's going to be a noticeable sibilance and muffling, especially in the centre grooves. The best entry-level TTs with elliptical diamond styli (which are best at dealing with tight grooves and stop damage from happening in the first place) and good counterweights would be Regas/Pro-jects.
>>64498929
Thank you. I'm gonna get something that doesn't fuck up my records
>>64498929
No counterweight = record mutilator is a fallacy. There's more at play than the presence of a counterweight.
>>64498463
Nice. What consoles do you not not own that you would like to, if any?
>>64499335
I get that, a lot of it is to do with the stylus material/shape, but if you've got 100 grams of tonearm bearing down on your record you're going to see some serious wear.
>>64499559
Definitely. The problem with crosleys is that their tracking weight is easily in excess of 6 grams, which is like taking a scalpel to a record. They're cheaply made, overpriced and aimed at people who would go all glassy eyed they heard the term "tracking weight".
Virtually any other brand is better and won't actively destroy your records in a matter of a week, counterweight or no.
>>64499763
I owned a Pioneer PL-90 (big plastic automatic thing) for about a year once, and it gave me permanent inner groove distortion. All my new records sound great on my Pro-Ject up until the last note, but most of the stuff I played on that Pioneer is all fuzzy for the last few minutes (including my NM first pressing of Thick As A Brick ;_;).
been using this dl-160 cart since 2009
