GOAT, obvs. The fuck is happening ITT?

Do kind of think of them as a little singles-y but their albums are still good - it's just that the singles are generally the most captivating songs imo.

Disintegration and Pornography being the obvious exceptions to this.

I'll be seeing them for the 4th time in Vegas in a few weeks. They're great, Disintegration is a nearly perfect album start to finish. They also put on an excellent live show, especially when they're not supporting an album, which will be the case this time.

If I recall correctly, the whole makeup thing started about the era of Pornography just because the band had that "fuck-you" mentality at the time and it stuck and kind of a "brand" so to speak. Like a logo.
>>
>>64480575
The makeup is really what kills it for me.

Men wearing makeup is just silly.

Robert's fine dressing in black, he just needs to stop backcombing his hair and lose some weight.
>>
>>64480647
Flesh and Blood is the album where you can first hear them adopt more of a blues sound, then they went all-out by firing CC Deville and getting a new guitarist...unfortunately Poison just ended up looking as lame as all the other glam rock bands who tried to go alternative.

Literally none of those bands were able to adapt to the 90s except Pantera and in their case because they got a frontman out of the underground extreme metal/punk scene.

The thing about goth is that it never works if you overdress, and the older you get, the more conservative you should dress, especially if you're male. Women just have more leeway in pulling that look off.

Nigga should just go full Gomez Addams and wear suits and cut his hair.

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds (& Dirty Three) are probably the best looking band playing / composing this style of music today in the rock-pop-arena.

I think it packs a better punch than dolling oneself up in Hot Topics gear which ultimately detracts (in my opinion).

I would not say it's drone-y in the way that John Cale and his ilk were but they do have a lot of songs that are just 2 or three chords but there is a lot of jazz-style soloing exploring the sonic space that seems to get "the feels" out of me. Particularly the stuff like "The Same Deep Water as You" and the like. I'm guessing that was a combination of Porl Thompson and Robert Smith fussing about

He reminds me a lot of Dream from the Sandman comics in this pic for some reason.
>>
>>64486941
>from Wikipedia:

The Sandman (1989–1996)[edit]
Main article: Dream (comics)
Neil Gaiman, author and creator of Vertigo Comics' The Sandman (1989–1996), based the appearance of his lead character partly on that of Robert Smith, and partly on himself in his twenties.[161] Other illustrators of the character over the course of the series' run have also drawn influence from other popular musicians; Sam Kieth, for instance, describes his rendering of the Sandman character as the "David Bowie/guy-from-the-Cure" version, and said that the Robert Smith look of the character was "really heavily championed" by Neil Gaiman and DC Comics editor Karen Berger.[162] Mike Dringenberg, on the other hand, compares Kieth's Sandman to Ron Wood and Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones, and asserts "my version ... was more like Peter Murphy or Robert Smith."[163] Conversely, Kelley Jones, who illustrated the Dream Country and Season of Mists (volumes 3 & 4 in the series), said he "just hated The Cure" and thus based his own version of the character on the angular gestures and facial features of Bauhaus front-man Peter Murphy instead.[164] Gaiman said that early conceptual sketches for the character by Leigh Baulch and Dave McKean drew influence from David Bowie's Aladdin Sane persona, and Bono from U2.[165] Cure posters were also "known to creep into the background of some of the sandman stories" and Smith told fans that he was flattered by Gaiman's reference, and thought The Sandman was "a brilliant series".[87]
