Pic related is pretty neat. Lately I've been into Taylor Deupree and Nils Frahm. Ceramic TL had a pretty cool release this year but its definitely more on the dark/industrial side of ambient

Usually it takes a couple of listens. Though, you might like Tangerine Dream's album Force Majeure better. Not as ambient, but more musically memorable, imho

I've been in love with a few things lately. One of them is ambient/folk from Russia by way of a guy named Foresteppe. The other thing is a local guitar drone artist Haunter (pic related) went to go see him and two openers last night at a cafe. It's my fourth or fifth time seeing him and it's still great to hear what he does

SubtractiveLAD is kind of a more synth-y project, although he does use some little acoustic guitar bits on some songs. Seems to range from drone-y ambient pieces to some other stuff with beats over it (not 100% sure what to call it). I haven't listened to much of his newer stuff yet.

I ended up checking it out after the song "fumes" from "Apparatus" came up on Pandora radio; ended up liking both his ambient stuff and his stuff with the beats over it.

I'd listened to the title track a couple times and didn't care for the vocals all that much, but now that I've listened to the whole album it was actually enjoyable. I guess I didn't like that track the first time because I wasn't expecting vocals. The second track is phenomenal, just totally immersive peak-tier Eno. I actually concur with Pitchfork's review with regard to the third trackā€”I wish Eno did the recitation. But damn, the transition from the third track to the VU cover... pure beauty, pure fucking beauty. Great cover too. Even better in the album than it was alone. It's a beautiful payoff, a newfound freedom after the great depths of your cerebral journey.
